TAMSULOSIN/MAXTRA ISSUES

I was diagnosed with Gleason 8 prostate cancer in 2022. I have prostap hormone injections every 3 months. I was put on Tamsulosin/Flomax 8 months ago - I had no problem with peeing before going on it but after coming off it because of side effects, for the last 2 months I have had increased urgency, thin stream but lots of pee! I don't know what's going on.

jonnyp1957 Gleason 7 diagnosed 2020 Been on Zytiga 1000gm for4 months then liver problems so reduces to 500gms since also pro strap 3 monthly injections since 2020 Bern undetectable for 3 years but told keep on treatment Take tamsulosin mid morning after taking Zytiga an hour before eating and prenisole with food do find over past year I get up a pee in the night and can’t pee much but once I’m up and motivated my bladder empties fully my worse problem is night sweats 2x in the night but use a cool pillow put on my head to cool me down for 5 minute then can fall asleep again. Maybe I should take tamsulosin last thing at night but worried might be up several times in the night Good luck

Tamsulosin eventually caused me to have bradycardia. I was switched to Myrbetriq and so far good results.

Initially took tamsulosin for BPH. Never had any side effects. Took at night before bed. After cryosurgery at MSK last Feb and healing of prostate was able to pee like a teenager. Very strong stream. Since it's an alpha blocker, I wondered if I had to be concerned about long term side effects. I had been on it for about two+ years prior to surgery. MSK Doc said that I could experiment with dose, whatever makes me comfortable. At first cut back to every other night and now stopped taking it. Stream not as strong as post-op but not an issue. We'll see how peeing changes over time with the BPH. I'm afraid my experience won't be that helpful in your situation. Best of luck.

Maybe because here in the country of brotherly love, we sometimes refer to fire hydrants as jonny pumps...
