HiI am new to this site. My lovely mum who is 78 lives with me after my healthy father passed away with covid in 2020. She was diagnosed with Parkinsons after a hip op severely damaged a nerve causing a drop foot. The neurologist just suggested she had it. So in 2019 I think she started these meds.

me again with the shingles questions! A specific one this time…
how long did you stop your arthritis meds when you had shingles? The a and e doc told me I could restart the Rinvoq once the blisters had crusted over…I’m keen not to be off it for too long … Thanks in advance all Bon X

Heads Up
Got this text message yesterday. High risk in this context not related to age - OH is older than me and hasn’t had one. Wasn’t categorised as ‘high risk’ in last outbreak. I’ve looked into this and it seems that the ‘high risk’ criteria have been revised and that some neurological and psychiatric

IVIG - how soon does it benefit?
My husband - CLL, on Calquence since April 2021 - has begun a schedule of monthly IVIG, mainly because he had 2 life threatening infections late spring/early summer (staph that went rogue, followed by c. Diff thanks to months of antibiotics). His ID doc has said that the IG may likely have Covid antibodies

Workplace Injury
I work in the dental field and was trimming an imperino I was taking on a patient. When trimming the impression, he scalpel slipped and cut my finger fairly deeply. I checked the impression and there was no obvious blood contamination, likely only a small amount of saliva. After following proper protocol

Shingles jab
I may be the last person to know this, but.......having been told to avoid the shingles jab as it contained a live virus, I've just been told that the NHS no longer use live virus vaccines, so it's safe for MPN patients. I have now had my first shot👍

Covid Antivirals
Hi, if we get Covid is it still advisable for us to ask for the antivirals or is it so mild now that patients with blood cancers don’t need them? Suzy

Please someone reassure me that this is another IBS flare up
Last year I went through a bad phase with my bowels, had numerous doctor visits and blood/stool tests. The doctor said IBS again due to negative results and also based on my previous history of negative tests along with normal sigmoidoscopy. I've been having sporadic bad IBS flares which appear different

The forgotten half million?
We went from Shielding to being High Risk to being Vulnerable. Are we now the Forgotten? I ask, because we were told that the Autumn vaccination programme was starting on 18th September, and I started to hear of people getting appointments and inoculations but from my knowledge of their condition and

Shingles Vaccine Update
Well I never!! I woke to a text message from our GP's surgery to say that I am eligible for a shingles vaccination with a link to book in with a nurse. My GP's obviously looked up the guidelines & though better of her decision! I'm just hoping that after the fight to get it I don't have any adverse

Dog bite not on my Xmas list
So… today, while walking my Old English Sheepdog, three dogs escaped from their leashes and one of them bit my leg. They also tried to bite my dog but because most of her is fur they didn’t reach flesh. I, however, went home and did a cursory clean with hydrogen peroxide and went to urgent care. They

Covid & Flu Vaccinations
Can anyone please tell me if you have had both the flu and Covid vaccinations at the same time please. If you have did you suffer any worse side effects from having them at the same time? I have both booked at my GP's but am not happy to have both together as I think this is a first time it has happened

evening update
I don’t have head lice or covid! My nurse checked my head and I took a covid test this morning. I am congested but I think it’s just allergies. I’m a little nervous though bc my temp has been around 99 all day today. Usually I run a little cooler. Today felt much better than the past few days, so I hope
