HiI am new to this site. My lovely mum who is 78 lives with me after my healthy father passed away with covid in 2020.
She was diagnosed with Parkinsons after a hip op severely damaged a nerve causing a drop foot. The neurologist just suggested she had it. So in 2019 I think she started these meds. After covid she just got worse and worse.
Not having any idea of what to look out for my mum got aspirational pneumonia this year (on a 12 month wait lost fir someone to help clear her chest!).
Anyhow she then came out with a feeding tube called a RIG.
I need to go away in November for 3 nights. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations or experience for respite in bucks? We have carers already. Its just the overnight and common sense element.
I would use the carers who come 4 times a day but they don't suction or monitor my mum. And they don't use their common sense, they've left our front door open twice!
I guess I just need someone responsible and able to use a suction machine to clean her teeth and get excess phlegm out of her mouth.

Hello - just wondering if you’ve had a carer’s assessment from your local council? In our area, as part of the carer’s assessment, you can request to put together a respite/emergency plan for care. In my our area there may be a charge for some of the care, but it does feel reassuring to have a basic plan in place, particularly if you are the main/only carer xx
Yes thats great. We are linked to Florence nightingale hospice physio and they have no space for my particular week. I'll contact the other hospice and your agency too. Thanks this is very useful.Jude
