My Asthma has not been under control for a year or more now on Trimbow highest, tried Carbesteine Nacys Montelucast etc using Blue inhaler in day plus normal had 4 lots of Steroids the Gps give 30 to 40 mg for a week, the last time recently needed a month later so Gp gave more to taper off, done this n 2 weeks later starting again it starts with mucus in throat gets worse at night! cough then goes to wheezing etc! I am waiting now to go to another hospital as my normal respiratory person has referered to a severe Asthma clinic ! until I here from then do I just ask for more Steroids ! think she is sending me regarding a Biologic , they thought it was poss due to allergy so would it not be better to go to a allergy clinic ?

I agree an allergy clinic makes sense to me. I know what triggers my breathing in part but I am sure there is more out there I have no idea what they are?

According to ALUK, you have to be referred to a Severe Asthma Clinic in order to be considered for biologics. More details in the link; asthmaandlung.org.uk/sympto...

Yes, your right, I've had to be under the severe asthma clinic at addenbrookes for a year, before my referral for biologics, I'm waiting on a phone appointment on the 17th March to confirm which tertiary centre I am being referred onto 🥳 so it's happening, but it's not quick, even with a confirmed e-asthma diagnosis since 2023 x N

Hopefully your wait for the severe clinic appointment won't be too long 🤞the respiratory person at the hospital you are currently under or gp would be worth talking to, to get a plan in place to keep you as well as possible, while you wait x N

My tertiary clinic has a joint asthma/allergy clinic I think. I only go to respiratory but I’m sure there’s an allergy clinic that runs aside it too.

The respiratory clinic should test for allergies. I had this done just over 18 months ago as they wanted to find out what causing mine to go haywire . My asthma is now classed as severe. I had a great consultant, who sadly needed a break for personal reason. But I am mow on the highest trimbow, clenil modulite 100, montelukast and uniphyllin continuous and things seemed to have settled for now. I am not eligible for the biological. I had my recent review with another consultant and put on a mart plan. Hopefully you will hear about an appt very soon
