Oat Beta-Glucans with APS
Hi all, My cholesterol level is slightly raised and I’m keen to see if I can reduce it without the need for
statins
through a few key healthy diet modifications and regular exercise, as well as the gentle introduction of the some cholesterol reducing foods, and regular INR monitoring.

What are simple refined carbs?
Tried every statin on the market but on day 5 my muscles go stiff and I can’t walk properly so my GP did bloods on my muscles and said
Statins
are’nt for me. I worry constantly as my cholesterol bloods say i’m at 38.5% chance of heart attack or stroke.

Statins and RLS
I developed my RLS after taking
statins
for high cholesterol. The
statins
ruined the muscles in my legs and caused RLS. I stopped taking the
statins
, but the RLS remained and have had them for over 20 years. Has anyone gotten RLS after taking
statins
and having leg or other muscle problems.

Statins and AKI
Anyway my GP got wind of the
statins
and told me to get back on them, guess what within two days my BP spiked at 161/107, first time it had been over 120/80 in a month. Also sore legs after exercise on
statins
. Question is, has anyone heard of an AKI due to overdosing of
statins
.

Alternatives to Aspirin ?
I am also on Ezitimibe 10mg since last September as I was struggling the side effects of
statins
(Rosuvastatin). I also wonder if the combination of Ezitimibe and Aspirin could be the cause (Ezitimibe works by decreasing cholesterol absorption in the small intestine).

Second Cardiac MRI
On meds for BP and beta blockers also prescribed
statins
which I haven’t taken taken. Meds making me feeling so rubbish and so disappointed that the MRI needs to be done again. Feeling very frustrated and lack of answers

Atorvastatin and anxiety update
I gather that psychiatric symptoms are rare as a side effect to
statins
, although not unheard of according to my GP. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has any thoughts on the matter. Thanks.

Statins
After a first unexpected angina attack was given 20 mg Atoravastatin by hospital. After a follow up at cardiac clinic was told to take 80 mg. Has anyone else suffered side effects from large dose. 80mg made me really ill. Have been reduced to 40 mg but not much better. Ok on 20 mg.

Over-the-Counter Adrenal Supplements: More Than Meets the Eye
We often see patients with dyslipidemia who prefer RYR to
statins
because it is “natural,” when in reality the active drug that provides benefit (monacolin K) is essentially a statin.

Turmeric
Does anyone know if it's ok to have turmeric and black pepper mix whilst taking Methotrexate, Prednisone, Asprin,
Statins
and Omeprazole? As Tumeric is known to reduce Inflammation. Thank you.

Medicine
Coincidence you might say well yes that is a possibility also I’ve made an appointment with my doctor as I’ve been off my
statins
and that has also helped yes I know it could be dangerous as they help to lower cholesterol but the reason I made my appointment is my old doctor took me off my old cholesterol

The Challenge of Finding the 'Best' Diet - Vegan or .... ??
I know my cholesterol is up but have refused
statins
for the possible side effects which have been discussed here and then there is of course blood pressure which is linked to diet as well - while not eating much salt can help some people at least.

Off Beta Blockers
Been on Metoprolol (beta blocker),
statins
and aspirin since July 2018. Had 1 stent fitted end of August 2018. Then on the clopidogrel as well. All pretty good since then. Saw surgeon in Dec and he advised coming off the metoprolol as my BP was surprisingly low.

Iron supplements and ferritin levels
Prior to switching to a new doctor, due to moving out of state, I weaned myself off all my meds (
statins
, Tramadol for a back injury, etc) other than a thyroid pill I desperately need, to get a fresh start from someone new. I thought I could control my back pain with just OTC drugs.
