Hi, I'm Val. I lost my hearing due to meningitis a few years ago. I was going through the process for a cochlear implant but I didn't qualify. I got the news on Friday and have been quit upset. I'm starting to have nightmares and full blown panic attacks now. I am fighting for acceptance. Yesterday,

Has anyone noticed Hearing Loss
Hi. I've been on this PMR/GCA journey for a month now. I hadn't been well since before Christmas but put it down to the chronic fatigue I also suffer from. It wasn't until I couldn't sleep or move or get out of bed for the excruciating pain that I thought this must be something else 😩I'm still trying

Adenomyosis and endometriosis
Hi everyone Does anyone have both adenomyosis and endometriosis? I was diagnosed with adenomyosis almost two years ago after my second lap and I’m at a real loss. The lap did little to help my pain, heavy periods or the dizziness which my consultant said means that most of my symptoms are due to adenomyosis

Effects of coming off cerelle
Hi All, me and my partner decided that after being on a contraceptive implant for a year we would come off this and start taking cerelle. After a few days I took the pill as normal but after a few weeks of me forgetting we decided we would both like to have another baby. I have been off contraception

Hearing loss and RA
I was wondering if anyone here has had RA affect their hearing? My hearing has been bad for a couple of years now and I have these special hearing aids. I noticed my hearing getting worse and now it’s in the severe range. The doctors are talking about cochlear implants. I was wondering if there was something

Extreme Tinnitus (ear infection?) - Help!
Something very strange has been happening to me since late February, and I'm rather worried. I wondered if anyone here has any suggestions (I'm seeing an ENT tomorrow). Timeline is this: Feb 21st: A nightclub decides to move into my head with an array of thumping-banging-booming sounds IN MY HEAD (

Advice Please
Hi, I’m new to the site but would really appreciate some advice. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in my late teens and had two flares of hyperthyroidism which were treated with carbimazole. My thyroid stabilised for about ten years and I have had periodic checks but after having a contraceptive implant

Anyone had a cochlear implant?
I have vasculitis (Royal Free Hospital refuses to commit to which one, but says ‘maybe Wegner’s’). I am losing my hearing and powerful hearing aids are no longer helping much. I can hear sound but not make much sense of speech in many environments. The Ear Hospital has offered a cochlear implant and

Endo, prostrap injections working but what next in my treatment, ablation or hysterectomy?
Hi, first time posting. I have always suffered with horrific periods. It took around 4 years to find a contraceptive pill that relived some of the pain. In between many years of trying to conceive and being diagnoised with endo (three treatments to remove it) I feel I am back to square one. Since the

My follow-up for Endometriosis!
I had my follow up appointment last week, my endometriosis was found near my bowel. I have been told to control my symptoms they are going to remove my contraceptive implant and place me on the pill as the pill will lower my oestrogen levels more, which means the endo will grow less rapidly. Anyone else

Laparoscopy found no Endo?
I’m 22 and have had trouble for years with pain during sex. In the last few months this has got a lot worse, to the point I’ll be in tears with the pain sometimes continuing through the night afterwards. As well as this pain, I often get a very bloated, hard tummy, that looks a few months pregnant.

Tinnitus will be the death of me.
Title says it all. Everyone has varying degrees of torment, I mean tinnitus: severe (masking therapy doesn’t help) to mild (masking therapy does help), extremely loud to extremely quiet, extremely high-pitched to extremely low-pitched, intermittent (not every second) to permanent (every second). There

Nightmare ENT appointment & self-contradicting doctor
The doctor confirmed that I had hearing loss and then told me I didn’t have hearing loss, he did not offer therapy, told me I have to accept the fact that tinnitus might be permanent (nah! State the obvious! What do you think I’ve been trying to do for 8 months?!), undermine everything I was saying,
