Anticoagulant switching
There have been a few post recently about pressure to switch from apixaban to other anticoagulants. I’ve been on apixaban for a number of years now and so far not been asked to change. However my 92 year old father in law, who has chronic kidney problems, has just been given edoxaban instead of his

angiogram
Has anyone had to stop their apixaban for an angiogram. I understand because of bleeding, but when I went to have my pre op assessment the nurse didn’t know. She "thought" I had to stop the apixaban for 2 days prior and take aspirin 75 instead. I have tried to get on to the hospital, but always answerphone

new diagnosis advice on blood thinners please
I had my diagnosis only 4 days ago after an echocardiogram. I was prescribed Apixaban 5mg twice a day which are making me feel incredibly ill so I haven’t taken today’s dose. I intend to ring my surgery Monday morning to ask if there’s another medication blood thinner I could take instead with less

Error with meds
Hi. I forgot to take my meds yesterday morning. Didn't realise until I felt strange and was about to take my evening meds at 10.30pm. So I took morning meds. I now need to take meds again in order to bring back to morning dose over two days. I am fine taking flecainide and blood thinner since I take

Daily use of metoprolol?
Hello, Recently diagnosed with afib, cardiologist prescribed blood thinner and metoprolol 50mg daily. Now, my BP is 120/80 , my resting heart rate is 55, and the frequency of my afib is every 8 to 10 days, I know this is a question for my cardiologist but I would like to know from the experience of

Palpitations at night
I had a third ablation nearly three weeks ago and am in sinus rhythm, but I'm having trouble sleeping because of an uncomfortable thumping heart when I go to bed, that keeps me awake for a while, though it's OK in the mornings. After the ablation my consultant told me to halve my Bisoprolol dose,

Are Anticoagulants necessary?
I was diagnosed with PAF over two years ago following two episodes of fast AF which lasted for less than six hours. I was given IV Metoprolol in A&E and discharged on Bisoprolol 1.25mg daily. I have been well and active since but my cardiologist is keen for me to take anticoagulants as my CHADsVASc

when to reduce apixaban dosage?
I am being monitored for kidney deterioration on a regular basis because of taking 5mg x 2 daily Apixaban. My latest blood test showed they are deteriorating slowly and am now in stage 2. I am nearly 80, and under 7stone 9. I feel as if I am between a rock and a hard place. I really really don’t

Update on shoulder surgery
A few weeks ago when I posted that I was having a difficult time with my PMR journey many of you replied with positive thoughts and support. That helped me so much. I mentioned at the time that I was awaiting shoulder surgery and some of you asked me to let you know how I got on. I had the surgery

Something Seems Off With my Smartwatch Heart rate Readings
I was given an IPhone Smart Watch for Christmas, but just started using it, the past couple of months. My question is with the accuracy of the heart rate readings. I usually wait at least 1 & 1/2 hours, after taking my Cartia, before I start a brisk 35-60 min. walk. Sometimes, my heart rate will register

Atrial Tachycardia
After two temporarily successful cardioversions (6 months af free each time) I had an ablation in May and all seemed to be going well. I remained happily in sinus rhythm for over three months until suddenly, out of the blue, my heart rate and blood pressure rocketed and I ended up in the Resus Department

Anyone get PN Nerve Block without steroid?
Hello, I have read various studies PubMed etc. that say there is little difference in pain result whether the nerve block is done with steriod or without. Just lidocaine. My pain doc has me scheduled for a block with just lidocaine, and I am wondering if that is just for diagnostic purposes. ? I
