Deeply Infiltrating Endometriosis - Anyone had resection resulting in a temporary stoma?
I have just had a check up only to come out with surgery booked and a new diagnosis of DI Endo, several follow up appointments with a stoma nurse and colorectal surgeon with a view to removing a large portion of bowel etc. Looking for advice and tips on getting my head round all of this and what to expect

As I have an over active stoma, I am told to avoid high fibre foods. My advised diet is high fat.Cholesterol level is now 13.6.
When two different problems collide, it makes you wonder what to do.

Any advice for the newly diagnosed ovarian carcinosarcoma (stage 3C MMT)? Vitamins? Nutrition? Ostomy bags? Exercise?
My mother has recently been diagnosed stage IIIc MMT ovarian cancer. She had already previously had a hysterectomy so this won't be part of the treatment. They have surgically removed the tumors, which crushed her colon and now has a colostomy bag which has been a nightmare to sort out. Chemo starts

Hi, I'm recovering from a bowel resection after recent surgery for my endo and wondered whether anyone else had had this done? Thanks
I've been diagnosed for over ten years, have had previous laps and diathermy which worked in the short term. My recent op removed my right Fallopian tube, unstuck all the fused areas, but was complicated by the endo which had gone through my bowle wall causing a stricture. I now have a stoma, and am

Surgery??
Has anyone has experience of surgery? I would love to hear from you. My Mum has to decide whether to have her remaining ovary removed after responding well to chemo for stage IV ov/c. She was considering surgery until they said it would probably involve removing part of the bowel too and having a stoma

Is Surgery Worthwhile?
Hi, My Mum is currently in a dilemma regarding possible surgery to remove her one remaining ovary as they have said it will almost certainly involved removing part of the bowel. This would involve a stoma (temporary or permanent) which is making her not want the surgery. The surgeon said surgery would

What would cause stoma sensitivity and pain that feels like you've been punched in the stomach? The stoma is also very rigid and rubbery.
I am a 26 year old that was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 1.5 years due to malnutrition and neglect. I had to have a temporary ileostomy put in at the age of 3 and a permanent ileostomy put in at the age of 5 that included the total removal of my large intestine and rectum. Since then, I have

A patient's wish list for 2014
This is a very personal list for me. A mixture of of my own health wishes and those that I would like to see happen in healthcare. It would be great to hear if any of your views are similar to my own. So here goes. 1. As you would expect for a bowel transplant patient my obvious wish is for my transplanted

Slowly recovering after surgery
Hello to everyone and a Happy New Year to you all. The surgery and my recovery has had its ups and downs. They removed all the cancer and have confirmed that it is 100% low grade cancer (not high grade as previously diagnosed) and so the prognosis is that chemo is not likely to work on me, but it

Living with Endo...
Hi everyone - feeling very confused and down, so hoping you can share some thoughts with me... I'm struggling with endo - have been for about 8 years - had my first lap a week ago, with endo specialist, and still feeling very sore. They found cysts on my left ovary, and recto-vaginal endo, and everything

being a bowel transplant patient doesn't mean life can't go on
I have to start this particular bowel transplant blog with a birthday hug. Who for, well me actually. Why? Well at the precise time I post this blog I was, two years, ago coming out of theatre after my transplant surgery. Who was the first person to remember? No not me but my incredible surgeon who sent

Is worsening pain in and around your stoma normal 2weeks post op?
I had a loop ileostomy performed 2weeks ago and have started having a lot of pain in the stoma and surrounding area. The area is swollen too. Is this just things healing? I'm not sure what to expect :/

Bowel transplant patient morphs into patient NHS Commissioner
I thought that it was time I wrote down a summary of where my life was in bowel transplant land. In doing that I realised that my role as a patient was changing. Was that down to me or down actually to the changing nature of the NHS here in the UK? I will let you decide. A warning this is a long post
