Does anyone out there has an ileostomy because of their ovarian cancer?
I have joined the Ileostomy Association but although I have had lots of very good advice and help, no-one seems to have their stoma because of ovarian cancer. I have a very active, high-output stoma and find it all a bit exhausting although I try to stay positive and as it is not reversible I have no

Mature teratomas - has anyone had any joy with anti-hormone injections shrinking tumours?
My daughter had a 20cm mature ovarian teratoma removed last May. she has since had her appendix removed (the tumour also contained a carcinoid tumour so the appendix was removed because it is one of the first places carcinoid goes), some lymph nodes in the pelvis, a second smaller mature teratoma from

Hi! I need help with alternative treatments for my mother who has done chemotherapy and radiation already.
She was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in June of 2008 and underwent a hysterectomy and a round of chemotherapy after that. She went into remission for a bit and relapsed, and this cycle continued another time until she had to have another operation to remove a tumor near her cervix. She then

Horrible day today!
I was diagnosed with OC Stage 1 (grade 3 cells) last September. Following a full hysterectomy I had 6 sessions of carboplatin and taxol to blast a few 'floating' cells. I went into remission at the end of February this year with a CA125 of 7 and a clear CT scan. However, after experiencing some pain

Holiday advice needed
I had booked a two week holiday to Tenerife for March 2012. However, I've had to start back on chemo. My last chemo of six carbo/taxol will be on 13 February. Would it be feasible to go on holiday on 10 March or would it be too soon after the last chemo and should I just cancel the holiday. I've

How long til a stoma settles into a pattern?
I had my colostomy, descending almost end of colon, on December 4th. It does not seem to have settled into a regular pattern of working. I still get the urge to go to the loo but seem to have no control over the stoma excreting and I wondered whether anyone else has the experience and can say when, or

Great news! I think
Hi girls! I saw my consultant gynaecologist yesterday for my post op review! He is very pleased with the outcome and Has decided to hold off radiotherapy for the time being as it can only be used once? I will have a review in 3 months time and meanwhile concentrate on letting my body recover from the

Taxol
Hi everyone I finished my second line chemo (carboplatin/taxol) on 16 February and go today to see my oncologist about the results. I know my CA125 was still 177 by the end of the 5th chemo so I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about what I'm going to be told. On my third chemo the taxol was reduced

Mum 71 told the worse then given hope, Help please?
My mum,s caelyx treatment was stopped because of hand and foot syndrome about 4 weeks ago. She was told there was another drug they could use but had to get funding from PCT and to come back in 8 weeks 5th April for the result. For 2 weeks she was back to normal you would not have thought there was
