When food is medicine, what makes a decent snack?
As a patient, I approach NAFLD and NASH with a food as medicine strategy. I believe in the idea that with a damaged organ making it work as little as possible is the only rational plan. For now, let's assume that you are eating a liver friendly diet but what do you do for those in-between times. A snack

CHICAGO PBC/SJOGREN’S MEETING RECAP
We had a very successful meeting on Saturday. There were 54 people who attended, if the room was larger, we would have invited more people that also tend to also have Sjogren’s, like my Scleroderma group. The Congressman, Sean Casten, and a District Director by the name of Anne Wick attended. Mr.

How do you treat joint pain?
I’ve been having pretty bad pain in my hands and knees. Besides having CLL, I’m a Type 2 diabetic (though my A1C is near normal). I had joint pain before starting Imbruvica in late December, but recently it has affected more joints. Of course I see my doctors regularly, and take a med for the pain and

NHS Endo test results - all normal - thoughts please ...
Hi - I have finally been to see an NHS endocrinologist. It felt like something of a 'tick box exercise'. Gluten free and sourdough bread.
When I was first diagnosed with RA, I tweaked my diet significantly and one of the main changes was eating less gluten, which is better for inflammation. I have come up with a really good recipe so thought I would share... You don’t need to knead it (good for sore hands) and it doesn’t use yeast either

Urine infection treatments for AF sufferers
Hi all, last year I suffered with a urine infection and in desperation went to the chemist and bought some sodium citrate (popular remedy for symptoms for cystitis). Within literally one minute of drinking it I was in full blown AF. After spending one of the worst nights of my life with AF and terrible

GFR improvements possible?
I’m 58, my GFR in June was 73. I had an acute episode in Nov my number dropped it to 41, this was due to a flu, lack of sleep, using 7 different over the counter drugs for 6 weeks while working. Then 2 Prescribed drugs, and dehydration. My general doctor was panicked. I took a test two weeks later

Newbie needing help one year on from hemithyroidectomy
One year after my hemithyroidectomy (due to 1" benign cyst) my endocrinologist has discharged me because my bloods are 'normal' and my symptoms since the op are apparently 'just coincidence' and she referred me for an ECG as it 'might all be caused by an underlying heart problem'. My ECG showed no abnormalities

1st Step
Today I will have surgery for the development of my blood vessels to start the dialysis process. The impurities in my body are starting to build up. I have several gout locations. A foot is swollen this morning and my face is puffy. I know all of these are signs that it is time to take this step. My
