Antibody infusions?
I know a young man in my community who received a kidney transplant a few years ago. I have heard thru mutual friends that he has been diagnosed with covid and in the hospital not doing too well. Anyway, this brings me to think about treatments...are transplant patients able to get the antibody infusions

Missed immunosuppressant dose
Hi all! I'm hoping you can put my mind at ease. I was blessed with a kidney transplant 2 months ago, and for the first time forgot to take one of my 12hr doses of tacrolimus and Myfortic last night. I took my meds as usual this morning however. I'm terrified of an acute rejection episode. What is the

theoretical question: lung transplant
Sorry if this question is of the "out there" type. If an asthmatic recipient receives a lung transplant from a non-asthmatic donor, would the recipient asthma be "cured"? I've read about the reciprocal phenomenon -- one gets asthma if the donor was an asthmatic. I am guessing compared living a lung transplant

Staying on the Path
After having multiple back surgeries I became extremely inactive afraid to move because of pain. This led to weight gain and I developed diabetes. That was my wake up call. Not being a fan of medication I began following a diabetic diet and through reading I found so much more information that I was

Scared might have rectal cancer
Hey everyone, I want to share what I’m going through I hope I could get some advice, A month ago I started seeing brown blood coating my stool, then it became bright red. The stool test detected E. coli which might’ve been causing it. But since then I continued seeing blood, however E. coli should only

Hashimotos and PBC? Primary Billiary Cholangitis
Am working on a healthcare brief as a copywriter atm. This time for the autoimmune liver condition PBC. The premise is that PBC is a rare condition, but as it’s a major cause of liver transplants in the US, I tend to think many people are undiagnosed and it actually occurs quite frequently. With that

Should I do only kidney or pancreas as well?
I have been listed recently in august for kidney and pancreas transplant. I am type 2 diabetic and not on dialysis yet. I was not aware if my transplant doctor would list me for pancreas. I am not sure if I should go for pancreas transplant or keep only kidney. Having both increases risk? Any advise

Bloody stool and constipation
During my first 3 months of pregnancy I was having a small amount of bloody stool off and on with constipation. I got a flexible sigmoidoscopy procedure done over a month later. A small polyp was found in the rectum after the doctor did a thorough check of the colon to see where the bleeding was

A small piece of advice
Having been through Cirrhosis and fatty liver then the liver cancer string I can only give this advice I also have anxiety as well as depression and PTSD. Keep above all a positive outlook on life. Is it easy no, not at all. Turn to what helps. I spent months angry at God for my life circumstance. I

Hair Loss
Hi everyone, I have been on dialysis for 9 months. I am on the registry for a liver and kidney transplant. Along with other symptoms that so many of us suffer from, it is devastating that I have lost half of my hair : (( This started about 6 months into dialysis. Thyroid issues have been ruled out

Immense sweating
I am 2 yes 9 months post kidney transplant. Has anyone had issues with immense sweating that your hair is sopping wet? I thought it could be my thyroid but that’s not it. Apparently my blood work is stable. I’ve asked the transplant team, nephrologist and an Endochronogist….. no answers. I am wondering

Summary Paper from Drs, Claire N. Harrison and Donal P. McLornan
Nice summary I just came across from some of the experts. I've included some outtakes I found notable. Lots more in there on R&D for MF. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/bjh.16573 From chart, HCT control matters. This was discovered ~2011 and is likely a big part of what we've discussed

FRUSTRATED ON INACTIVE LIST
I am very frustrated with my Transplant Hospital (I need to vent or get guidance if anyone has a suggestion). I have completed all of my THIRD two-year re-evaluation with the multiple tests required. The Transplant hospital insisted I get a special Heart Cath procedure because they found a little “blip

How we grow and empathise through shared story
It's UK Kidney Week #UKKW2021 which really means there happens to be a big virtual conference happening in the renal community this week. I'm thrilled to be part of the conversation in self care with a brilliant human chairing, Dr Kate Bramham, on Friday. Kate was the on ward consultant last September

Is it hemorrhoids or colon cancer ?
Is this a possibile sign of colon cancer? I have painless passing of stool, no bleeding, no discomfort but I noticed a small lump, ( pictures attached) ( nothing significantly gross) is it hemorrhoids because of my recent 1 month of poor negligent diet or is it something serious

Bio-artificial kidney
Hello everyone I hope you're doing good. 😊 Do you think this permanent cure (bio-artificial kidney) is possible anytime soon? It's supposed to replace dialysis and even kidney transplant. I know the concept has been around for a few years now and didn't get anywhere for various reasons, but it seems
