Am working on a healthcare brief as a copywriter atm. This time for the autoimmune liver condition PBC.
The premise is that PBC is a rare condition, but as it’s a major cause of liver transplants in the US, I tend to think many people are undiagnosed and it actually occurs quite frequently.
With that in mind and as a long term Hashimotos sufferer, now it’s on my radar, I am keen to rule out I don’t have it. Do you? And if so how’re doing and how were you diagnosed.
Keep well
[ Edited by admin to correct the name of the disorder. Leaving the title incorrect could confuse and making finding it more difficult. The name has been confirmed in a response by the Original Poster. ]

My cousin has PBC, she went to her GP about something else but he noticed small white lumps in the corners of her eyelids, knew exactly what it was and referred to a specialist PDQ.
Sorry to hear that about your cousin, good her doctor was able to spot the signs. Which again makes me think it’s not rare, for the symptoms and condition to be so top of their mind. We know how common thyroid probs are but some gps would find it hard to spot or even know all the symptoms,
Btw, just curious, does your cuz have other auto conditions too?😊
Can you confirm that the spelling of Primary Billiary Chlorosis is correct please, and that is the actual condition you want to discuss. I can't find anything on the condition. What I can find is references to :
Yes, that’s it cholangitis. Basically an auto immune problem of the liver. It causes bile to build up. This is due to inflammation and calcification of the ducts. If not treated it can cause toxic liver damage, fibrosis etc. I think 80% of sufferers are of course woman as with most autoimmune conditions it seems.
