Can Blindness be caused by using Aldara (Imiquimod) with GCA?
My dermatologist is once again pushing Aldara (in the US, it's called Imiquimod) to help control my pre-cancerous skin "spots" (Actinic Keratosis) on my head. I have GCA, and I'm concerned because this med induces your immune system to go into overdrive against the spots, killing them, which leads to

Amelanotic melanoma
Whilst amelanotic melanoma is relatively uncommon fatality rates tend to be higher because they often go undetected for longer, are often misdiagnosed because they mimic other skin lesions and are therefore commonly diagnosed at later stages. Sunbeds is a Group 1 carcinogen!
Sadly, way too many lives have been lost to sunbed use. They are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a Group 1 carcinogen - this is its highest cancer risk category. Furthermore, a review by IARC found that first exposure to sunbeds before the age of 35 years increases

Stressed out by good news?!
Hey guys, Have any of you had one of these stress perfusion MRI scans? They show the blood flow to your heart muscle. I had mine last month and I have just got the results. Over all they are good...I had a 2x CABG aged 34 in January and the report from the scan shows I have 1/16th of my heart not getting

UV damage - The invisible killer
If you could see the damage you’ve already done due to UV exposure, would it change your sun protection habits? Would you check your skin monthly for the early warning signs? This image, taken with a special UV camera, show’s UV damage to the skin (on the left) that’s invisible to the naked eye.Ever

I've just been diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. The dermatology nurse said taking steroids for a long time can make this more likely because of the reduced immune response. I'm in shock, and I'm posting this to tell everyone to please keep a careful eye out themselves.his was a funny mole that

Body and face sores
I’m almost 3 years into my CLL diagnosis with fatigue being my main symptom. But lately I’ve been getting these large sores that look like a small boil that itch, hang around for a few day and dry out my skin then go away? I also have been getting small patches of little tiny blisters that come and

SUNBURN, REDDENING, PEELING AND EVEN TANNING OF THE SKIN IS CLEAR INDICATION OF SUN DAMAGE.
SUNBURN, REDDENING, PEELING AND EVEN TANNING OF THE SKIN IS CLEAR INDICATION OF SUN DAMAGE. OVER-EXPOSURE TO UVA AND UVB CAUSES DNA CELL DAMAGE THAT CAN LEAD TO ALL TYPES OF SKIN CANCER. chicken pox and pmr
My granddaughter has just been diagnosed with chicken pox. It’s her first birthday tomorrow and the following day, a party and bbq was planned. This may go ahead in a shortened form as she appears only mildly affected. My question is - am I at risk of catching chicken pox (severely) if I am in the same

Does anybody here take Isosorbide Mononitrate 60 mg twice a day ?
Had a 3 X CABG 7 years ago, I’m now a 64 years old, male. Everything since then has been fine, until recently, as I've now started to get angina attacks in the early mornings whilst asleep, and if I exert myself (like walking to the shops). I had to go to A&E when using my GTN spray did not work on

chicken pox
I would appreciate advice on chicken pox I had chicken pox as an adult when my children got it. I have also had a shingles vaccine. My grandson is just recovering and we’re waiting to see if his sister catches it. I’m on 5mg prednisone and we’re wondering if I should still be careful and stay clear

I started off fine but as the gradient increased my heart rate obviously increased but the rate wasn’t massive around 110 the problem
