Had a ct scan with contrast dye last year and nothing was found. Was given antibiotics for suspected giardia and everything settled down for 7 months then Christmas came had a few foods that may have caused some issues as I'm lactose intolerant and other foods can cause problems at times too also had quite abit of stress and somehow I have ended up with the bleeding on stools again and diarrhoea only go once a day as always but is either diarrhea or very soft and covered in blood sometimes even full on bloody diarrhoea. Doctor is retreating me with the antibiotics again incase giardia has returned. I want to ask doctor for stool tests to check for infections or parasites as last time nothing showed just high calprotectin but I am constantly worry daily over it being a IBD now that is has returned not sure if a sigmoidoscopy would help or as the CT scan was all clear is it worth putting myself though this as I am also extremely scared to have one. Any advice I thank you all.

Sigmoidoscopy
I’m so sorry you are suffering and also feeling so scared but try to keep calm and remember if it is IBD there are lots of treatments available which will help and give you quality of life back so keep strong and as positive as you can.
Are you under a gastroenterologist? If not you must ask your GP to refer you to one then they can request lots of different tests and a colonoscopy would be the best thing to start with as this will show exactly what is going on. Definitely push to talk to a gastro and ask your gp if it can be fast tracked given you are losing blood and have a high calprotectin the gp would not be able to diagnose IBD only a gastro when they get the histology results from the colonoscopy.
I’m shocked the gp has given you antibiotics without doing a stool test so yes I would definitely ask them to do that and say you don’t want to take antibiotics unnecessarily unless there is a bacterial infection.
Take care and good luck I’m sure lots of people will be able to offer advice on here so don’t feel alone xc
