Confused & could do with some advice please...
I had to have a re-blood test done a couple of days ago since having my b12 loading doses in Nov/Dec 2022 when I was told that I have Pernacious Aneamia caused by B12 deficiency & given a sheet of paper telling me all about it etc... I was told my results today & they say everything is normal apart

Detection of a bacterial infection: Procalcitonin test
How to figure out if antibiotics should be considered ? There is a blood test measuring levels of Procalcitonin: if it is below 0.1 ng/mL, a bacterial infection is very unlikely, so antibiotics would be of no help. My question is: how reliable is this indicator, especially on the false negative side

Increased fatigue levels / Breathlessness and Petechiae
Hello again... I have another appt today with the doc as I have been feeling really grotty lately. Since my last appt I have developed Petechiae on my stomach, increased levels of fatigue and breathlessness. I'm still working a 45 hr week currently but it feels like I'm dragging myself through the week

B12 injections and vaginal bleeding.
Hi all, I am new here and I would value some imput. I'm 68 and recently discovered that my B12 is too low. I received six B12 injections from a nurse at my surgery (and scheduled for three monthly for further injections). One week after the injections and I have experienced some vaginal bleeding. Do

Methycobalamin Powder Needed
Hi everyone, I have been ordering methycobalamin in powder form from a lab in the UK. I get it in this form because b12 loses potency when water is added and it's exposed to light. So I get the powder in vials, add saline solution, and do intramuscular injections. This worked very, very well for me

I’m new to this app but have been struggling with chronic fatigue off and on for many years. I find doctors quite unhelpful although well meaning. Years ago I had a course of b12 injections which changed my life but I’m recent years it’s been harder to get them after having a break. I am getting to

Iron low
Hello, I just got back my blood work test and the iron read a little low, so I was wondering if anyone else here on the panel with pernicious anemia has had low iron. My iron binding is within range. Iron level is in range but iron percent transferring saturation is reading slightly low

blood test back - any thoughts?
So now I am off all my meds, and started taking 200mg iron a night a month ago, my ferritin level just came back as 80, which I was quite surprised. The last one in 2020 was over 120. Should I double the dose and split it through the day or take 2 tabs before bed? Also my white blood count came back

Neurological Systems not Accepted.
In my work as a consultant I often do a "Critical Flaw Study." when a client is considering pursuing a building project. It is a study to determine what a bureaucratic or judicial board must agree to or ignore or the project will not be approved. Most consultants just dive in and wait for the critical

Can anyone figure out my MRD
Can anyone figure out what my MRD ( CLL cells per 10,000) is from this report. Component Your Value Standard Range Interpretation Flow cytometric immunophenotyping performed on the peripheral blood shows a small, dim kappa restricted B-cell population (representing ~98% of B cells, 6% of total

Iron Deficiency Without Anemia (IDWA)
In my "I'm Alive!" post yesterday I discussed my crashing with effectively no iron in my system with a condition called Iron Deficiency Without Anemia (IDWA). As promised here is a more detail discussion of that condition that anyone with autoimmune PA/AIG should keep their eye on. Knowing that iron

PMR and low White Blood Cell Count
A recent blood test (CBC) shows several low markers related to white blood cells - lymph, abs lymph, mono, and eosinophils. Also, two of the red blood cell counts were high, including MCV fL and neutrophils. I realize a slightly high or low number may not be cause for concern, but I don't know what is

Ferrous Fumarate
I have just had blood tests done. I was found to be low in iron so the GP gave me ferrous fumarate to take for a month. I am on Levothyroxine (one day 75, next 100) I have just started taking escitalopram 10mg for the most awful anxiety and depression. But my anxiety is still really bad I’ve read ferrousfumarate

List of Neurological Symptoms
Asking for help again. Working with a friend who is navigating the UK medical system. Tests for B12 were taken prior which showed B12 deficiency and GP did not interprete the results correctly. No surprise there. More tests have been ordered after the GP was given information about B12 deficiency

Autoimmune gastritis
I came across an abstract of an article called "Autoimmune gastritis". https://www.nature.com/articles/s41572-020-0187-8 Unfortunately, the actual article is behind a paywall. But a helpful illustration from the article can be downloaded, and is available here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41572
