High B12 - more tests needed?
My SO has several anaemia symptoms - pallor, breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness, nausea etc. GP says the bloodwork is OK despite family history of PA. Blood tests (GP & Medichecks) so far show haemoglobin & MCH a bit below range, haematocrit & MCH low but in range. Serum B12 is consistently high (latest

NICE guideline on B12 Deficiency diagnosis and monitoring in over 16s
The Vitamin B12 Deficiency Guideline in Over 16's has been published.
What does this mean for those with Pernicious Anaemia whether formally diagnosed or not?
What does it mean with those struggling to get sufficiently frequent treatment for their B12 deficiency?

Curious why GPs are so reticent to support B12 symptoms
Having struggled with sudden onset of strange symptoms last April ('buzzing' bottom extending to full leg, extreme fatigue, numbness in legs and no pain in arthritic knees suddenly, numbness in pelvic floor, hands and nostrils, pins and needles, hot/cold soles of feet, weakness esp in thigh muscles which

B12 and nerve regeneration
Starting in the 1990s, and continuing until my diagnosis with B12 deficiency in 2021, I had a series of problems with piriformis syndrome, sciatic nerve pain, and similar involvements with leg nerves. In searching around for related B12 information in Google Scholar I came across this article: https:

Platelets increase
My mun was diagnosed with thrombocytosis around 3 yrs ago. She has been on Hydresan for these years but during the past two blood tests she had to take her platelets went up to 600 in the first one and the second one was 700..We will contact her doctor but is this something to worry about? Ever since

B12 or something else?
Hi About 2-3 years ago, during lockdown when it was difficult/impossible to see a GP, I started taking B12 supplements 3-4 times weekly. Whilst not wanting to diagnose myself, I felt I had little choice given the GP situation, plus my daughters are B12 deficient, and had the same symptoms as myself

following first 10 S/Is now totally exhausted
have now been S/I ing EOD for the last 20 days, and am feeling mentally uplifted and hopeful and done some housework, ( my home had turned itself into a tip over the last 10 years or so) but last 3 days feeling really exhausted, cannot wake up or get out of bed in the morning, in a peculiar way worse

Imerslund-Gräsbeck one to know about
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imerslund%E2%80%93Gr%C3%A4sbeck_syndrome I had an argument last week with a Dr 'Fresh out the box' quoting the text book at me. He said the intrinsic factor antibody test was 95% accurate. So I retorted maybe I was one of the 5%! "That would be very unlikely." About 5

B12 or folic acid first?
My daughter has just been diagnosed with B12 and folate deficiency, The likely cause is poor diet so I’m happy not to pursue injections at this stage. Her GP has prescribed B12 and 5mg folic acid, both in tablet form. Please can anyone confirm which she should take first and for how long before
