following first 10 S/Is now totally exhausted

totallyFrustrated profile image

have now been S/I ing EOD for the last 20 days, and am feeling mentally uplifted and hopeful and done some housework, ( my home had turned itself into a tip over the last 10 years or so) but last 3 days feeling really exhausted, cannot wake up or get out of bed in the morning, in a peculiar way worse than before regular B12 injections. From what I have been reading I am wondering if this is down to B12 trying to work , grabbing all the iron and folate it can find and possibly has depleted that?

Do I need to get some folate right now, or should I wait for the results of the blood tests?

You are "reversing out". So you get diagnosed and get your loading doses. Your blood starts regenerating quickly, so your blood oxygen goes up and you feel much better.

Then the rest of your body which has been starved of oxygen, cobalt to build DNA, nerve tissue etc. goes "Hey we can mend at last!" Your poor old kidneys, liver and spleen flush out I reckon, judging by some of the specific aches and pains I've had, releasing goodness knows what crap into the system. You need the loo a lot.

Right now I can't be arsed to get up and go to work today, because my whole back, neck, shoulders and hips flared up yesterday. All my muscles are clicking and crunchy, and my coordination has been off. My brain/thoughts have been bouncing like ping pong balls. So hopefully my nerves are having a good rebuild and I just need to sleep and let them get on with it.

So up and down is quite normal. When you are feeling super rough remember it will pass. Treat yourself to really nutritious food, gentle movement and happy distractions. I'm watching the Little House on the Prairie series for total nostalgia!!

Keep taking extra B12.

Hi,

Some people can experience a drop in potassium levels when B12 treatment starts.

Some forum members try to eat potassium rich foods eg banana, beans, dried apricots, orange juice etc.

I would never take potassium supplements unless they were prescribed by a doctor as excess potassium can cause symptoms.

Has the GP tested your potassium levels?

I'm not a health professional.

thank you sleepybunny,

yes hypo and hyper-kalemia isn't good either way, I don't know how wide the safe area in the middle is, would be good to find out. Fortunately most peoples bodies are good at knowing what they need of that, and the world is very well suited to provide the right amount of the right thing. We loose a lot of potassium with perspiration, so in hot countries where we do a lot of this what grows? bananas Apricots etc......

I noticed that a few times I bought a bunch of bananas, and then didn't eat them..... hmmmm something to think about. Thank you again

When on B12 injections our bodies go into overdrive making new red blood cells and repairing the myelin. All this also requires other vitamins and minerals, to the extent it can leave us deplete. You are right in that you may well need to supplement for folate and ferritin.. other B vitamins and potassium

Thank you Lincsangel1, you are so right,

I have just ordered a pot of B9, B6 ( as P-5-P) and B complex, and a pot of anti homocyseine support to go with it. Looking forward to feeling better and better every day now.

For potassium I will just double my daily curly kale intake which I love anyway.

The injections are really great, I start feeling better about 5-6 hours post S/I, then get a great rest of the day followed by a great nights sleep and feel so much better next morning and all that day, and the following day I am injecting again. Happy days!!!😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
