Ongoing asthma issues - recovery period
Hi all, Around 15 weeks ago I had several
severe
asthma
attacks. I've been recovering since then and have made good progress in terms of being comfortable in the house, but my mobility remains limited.

Care package after severe asthma attack
Hi. I am currently in hospital after having an asthma attack, and was on a ventilator for 3 days. Does anyone know what to expect from a 'care package', and what I need to ask for? I need a letter from a asthma professional or GP to support my application to move to a ground floor flat (I'm currently

Much more wheezing over the past month
I've had well controlled asthma pretty much all my life. However the past month or so I've been getting a lot more wheezing and having to take my ventolin much more often (pretty much once a day, whereas it used to be about once a week). I had my annual asthma review (by phone this time for obvious reasons

Back to School
We're calling on parents and carers of children with asthma to contact their child's GP surgery to arrange an annual asthma review, which can often be done remotely, as this will help to make sure their condition is well controlled, and can even cut the risk of an asthma attack. If your child's asthma

Not sure who to believe at this point.
Hello everyone, hope you're having a splendid day, feeling healthy, and staying safe. I made a post on this forum 3 months ago and the responses I got were very positive and made me hopeful that I'm not alone in this mess. I was "diagnosed" with asthma three months ago and prescribed a corticosteroid

Smartphone app can predict asthma deterioration by measuring night-time coughing.
Researchers have shown that night-time coughing, measured via a smartphone app, can indicate that asthma is getting worse. The study, presented at the European Respiratory Society International Congress, is the first of its kind to measure patients’ coughing over a series of nights and shows that it

Cells in your airway talk to each other. For some, what they say can trigger an asthma attack.
These days, novel diseases such as COVID-19 are pushing scientists to work real hard and real fast to find treatments and cures for patients. But there are also many other types of old foes that live within us—diseases that have been part of our lives for such a long time that we can easily forget

My brothers Crohn’s
My brother is now 32, diagnosed at 17. His consultant says he is the worst case of Crohn’s they have ever treated in NI. Over the years he has had many surgeries and treatments. Last year he had Keyhole surgery and resulted in a stoma. He recovered but soon after seemed to develop an abscess type thing

In focus: diet - introduction
Hello, everyone This month in our ‘Health in Focus’ posts, we’ll be looking at diet. Often, people diagnosed with cancer make changes to their diet because they want to support their health. In these posts, we’ll look at some of the types of food that we are asked about on the support service, whether

Network study of nasal transcriptome profiles reveals master regulator genes of asthma.
Study of the airway in asthma by using RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)-based transcriptomics can elucidate novel molecular processes underlying the disease. We and others have found that nasal transcriptomics can provide important insights into asthma.5-10Because asthma affects and is affected by the entire airway

1st ever Asthma attack and diagnosis
I was admitted and they've told me I have moderate to
severe
asthma
. Ordered to stop smoking and vaping immediately which I've done and I'm on a pink inhaler and blue inhaler with a 5 day course of Prednisone. Truth be known, I'm scared witless.

Anxiety-induced severe asthma, doctors wouldn’t listen- so, asthma attack in the procedure room
One thing that can trigger my
severe
asthma
is anxiety. Viruses, air quality and smoke are the usual triggers, but anxiety can do it, too. I had a colonoscopy yesterday and I know that when I go into a procedure/ operating room, I get anxious.

Asthma worse since we moved.
Since leaving London and moving back to the west country last year, I feel like my asthma has been getting worse. I used to be on Flutiform 2 puffs twice a day plus nightly montelukast. My asthma nurse recently changed me over to Fostair 100 2puffs three times a day, montelukast, and now also a steroid

No need to worry if i can do it anyone can hand on heart
Nothing to worry about. I was 63 when i had a non reversible ileostomy and done great and now 70. Take things easy for around six weeks and do as told. don't over do things that's when problems occur. Same with regard to exercise etc. Eat little to start and build up food intake over a period of time

Hot weather - is this an asthma trigger?
Hii there, I’ve only very recently been diagnosed with Asthma and this sudden heatwave makes me feel like I have someone sat on my chest... It feels so heavy and irritated - agh! Is there anything I can do? 😤😖

Recent experience with Asthma UK
Good afternoon all, This is just a short post to say how helpful a recent Asthma UK nurse appointment was that I attended. This was my first time calling them, and they offered so much support and advice. I went back to my GP and we discussed what was said, and between us have put a new plan in place
