Flutiform v. Seretide
Have had a persistent flair up of asthma symptoms for the last three months following a severe chest infection which was treated with a course of antibiotics and steroid tablets alongside my usual 2x250 Seretide morning and evening. This was then increased to 2x500 twice a day as well as the addition

Asthma- Small Airways Disease Diagnosis
Hi, new on here had asthma over 40 years (I'm 46) but have just been diagnosed with small airway disease (asthma) after HRCT & spirometry. Not heard of this before but Dr said it is as subtype of asthma that they are only just discovering and that is more difficult to treat. I've been prescribed Fostair

How long should I wait before taking antibiotics?
Hi. I'm new here. I have a question about viral vs. bacterial chest infection. Last week I came down with a sort of mild head cold (sore throat but not the usual sneezing/runny nose). Now I've been coughing up green phlegm since Monday. I spoke to my GP (but only over the phone) who has given me antibiotics

Grr can't shake this cough!
Now more antibiotics to try and get rid of this cough/chest infection. Now both lungs have 'creps'? No wheeze tho, so apparently no need for more steroids or an increase in seretide. Peak flow still only 65% at best. Also had chest x-ray to see what's going on. Following this, if it continues I'll need

New asthma plan.
I saw my asthma nurse today for a review. It turns out that my asthma is not well controlled at the moment. She has changed my seretide from the evohaler 250/25 twice a day to the accuhaler at dose 500/50 to be taken as one puff twice a day. Am I missing something here? The dose looks the same to me.

Asthma not under control
Had what I was told was a asthma flare up at the end of June. Three rounds of antibiotics and two lots of steroids I am still coughing day and night. Current meds are seretide 250, spiriva and zafurlukast. Have had a chest X-ray, that was clear. I have got a referral to a chest specialist but not till

Fostair 200
I have been on Fostair for about 2 years and since then I have suffered with reflux causing breathlessness and stomach pain. I have been put on Lanzaprazole which does not help and irritable bowel medication for stomach pain. Nothing is working. I am also suffering with anxiety which has been bad for

Change of inhalers.
For many years I have been taking Seretide as my preventer inhaler and it works well for me and even when I've got cough and cold viruses. I had to change GP surgeries earlier this year as mine closed. There no query on my prescription of Seretide when I change surgeries but after my asthma review

Seretide
Saw respiratory nurse today. Feeling awful. On clarithromycin and oral steroids. Told seretide is no longer being prescribed by Fife nhs. Read it can cause increased chance of repeated lung infections. Given relvar ellipta instead. Have googled that and in some cases can cause pneumonia. Hope

Asthma and Thyroid
Hey there! Im looking for a bank of info on the link between Hypothyroidism and Asthma. Is there such a thing? Ive had Brittle Asthma since I was 18, I think probably before but it wasnt diagnosed until I ended up in ICU for a while. Now I am at the top of the drug tree. A consultant suggested getting

Seretide
My friend has been taken off seretide because it seems to make you more prone to lung infections. Been on it for years and go from one lung infection to another. Any comments?

Hi there
Sorry I haven't been in touch😊. Dad had a major op, 3 weeks in intensive care, he made it, now convalescing but touch and go.. So I propped up my asthma with all sorts of meds and it was hot, found that hard to deal with, or the air-conditioned hospital wards😉 Anyway had my rare pulmonary illness checkup

Exacerbation of asthma
My asthma has been really controlled to the point of only needing a salbutamol inhaler from the age of about 8 till 2 months ago. I ended up having to ring 999 and having back to back nebulisers. I've been started on an inhaler with budesonide formoterol and fumarayr dihydrate. I'm still having symptoms

How long to recover?
I posted a week ago when I had a chesty cough and peak flow around 300-350 (pb 570). Dr said it was hayfever which caused sinus infection which then caused chest infection. He prescribed antihistamine, nose spray and antibiotics. With a couple of days my pf had gone up to 400 and the thick chesty cough

Fostair revisited
I went to see my new cardiologist yesterday, very pleasant and thorough, and has organised lots of tests as baseline. I asked him about Fostair and gave him the leaflet. When he had read it and reasons for not having it he said I should definitely not be having it as I have valve problems and high blood
