Having chest tightness, throat tightness and irritation, nasal irritation... Been taking seretide every other day. Now having insomnia due to shortness of breathe while laying down, heart burn/pain. Just took a puff of ventolin now, don't feel very much relieved. What to do?

First put some pillows behind you, lying flat is not a good idea. Wait a little while and take some more ventolin. If the heart pain persists especially if it is in your left arm, call 111 or the doctor.

Try gaviscon if it persists i have upper airway reflux and post nasal drip amd this affects breathing and mucus. It may be reflux related as sometimes asthma and acid reflux go hamd in hand. You may want to get checked for allergies reflux and post nasal drip. Hope you get better.

I have IPF.I have started using the Buteyko breathing method.I find it helps.Good luck.

Hi ,Billybib.....I am asthmatic, and I find Buteyko useful too. But I don't keep the exercises up and so relapse....it is not suitable for everyone though as it boosts CO2 very quickly....could be dangerous.....so check first.

Breathe gently

It's worth checking out about co2.I was shocked to learn that it's beneficial in many ways. Also Oxygen intake needs to be fairly small- wow! :-).Discovered after lifetime breathing through mouth,I should have been breathing through nose!We breath in acid vapour(mouth and stomach),when mouth breathing.Could explain many lung problems eh?

Hi Jeniiepha

Sounds like what I get regularly. You either have Emphysema, bronchitis, Cronic bronchitis, what your doctor say you have.

You will probably be given steroids like prednisone. Your Seretide has steroids in it. Go the doctors soon as you can, your breathing can get quite bad and could make you need to go to the emergency.

Book a double appointment with your GP as soon as possible.

I don't understand why you take Seretide every other day - surely this is meant to be taken daily to help with breathing. I think you should see your GP urgently to try to sort your problems out.

go to the hospital now best to be safe .

Two things.

1. Seretide should be taken twice daily to be effective, once in the morning, once at night. You may need to see your GP to get this rectified if this is not what you've been told.

2. If you haven't yet, and you're still having shortness of breath, get yourself to a&e to get checked out. Immediately.

Hi there it sounds like you need to go to A & E if your breathing problems are bad. Much quicker than waiting for GP appointment.

How long have you been on seretide? Why every other day instead of every day?

The usual dose for Seretide is 2 puffs twice a day. Not sure it works taking every other day. Talk to GP or pharmacist.

Sounds like your meds are not right they have many side effects. I would say use your I nebulizer if you don't have one you should talk to your Dr. You could be allergic.Sometimes meds are not helping. J UST a thought
