Is it normal for Doctors to tell you not to worry if you tell them you think you have an additional clot in a superficial vein?
While in the hospital last month with a DVT in arm, my leg started feeling like it was getting a clot. ( superficial vein.) The doctor said we are giving you Lovenox sub cutaneous injections. It's all we can do anyway, so it doesn't matter. Once released- about two days later- this bruise happened exactly

I am so angry update
Just thought I would update the lovely people that had read my last post. After I took my 28 year old son to my GP after his own had dismissed his thyroid deterioration and swollen ankles. We had been referred to the assessment unit at the hospital where they had said he was going into thyroid crisis

Stroke and APS
I've been diagnosed with APS in 1997, only after I had a DVT in my calf which then caused a pulmonary embolism. The specialists suggested I increase my INRs to >3.0. Recently (2012) I had some dental surgery and the surgeon wanted me off coumadin. I consulted my family doctor, and actually requested

Keep safe in the Sun
Chemotherapy treatments can cause your skin to be more sensitive to the sun that usual. Please take care. Nearly any chemotherapy agent (or non-cancer-related medications as well) may cause you to be more sensitive to the sun. It’s important to talk with your oncologist about your particular medications

Fertility treatment and APS
Hi, does anyone know the effects of fertility drugs and APS? We're thinking of trying for another baby. I have PCOS as well and am mostly anovulatory. We did hormone therapy with my first two pregnancies and started with my third but ended up with a surprise at the beginning of treatment. We're going

Stopping Rivaroxaban before surgery
I am on a joint Eye-ENT waiting list for a tear duct operation, which the surgeon told me is likely to be "very bloody". We discussed my anticoagulation at the clinic and she wrote to my GP afterwards, requesting that she advise me about stopping Rivaroxaban before surgery. Quite out of the blue, I

PE and warfarin. Scared to take it. Scared to stop taking it.
I am 37. I had a simple outpatient procedure due to a miscarriage and developed a small pulmonary embolism in my right lung. I now wonder if I had already had it due to the high amounts of birth control used for long periods of time before the pregnancy. I was diagnosed with the PE one month ago. I was

Professor Graham Hughes' Blog May 017
BLOG – May 2017 Waiting for a taxi to take me back to Basel airport for the short flight home to London. As good a time as any to start writing the May ‘blog’. I have cut my travel this year – my only ‘away’ lecture this month was to Leeds…until this one-day meeting in the pretty little town of Freiburg

New DVT May 21 2017
Unbelievable. I am shocked with the vigor our bodies clot despit our efforts to stop the process. We stopped the exclusive Lovenox regime May 8th. I suspect the clot was forming on the lovenox treatment, which shows all signs of failing me despite being at the highest norm of limits of the anti XA factor

I know infections infections affect the INR , but I can't remember which direction or by how much. ( I'm sure it's person to person dependent.) I went from slight below target INR of 3.5 on Thursday to suddenly 4.5 this morning. ( spinach for breakfast!) Hematologist raised my Wafarin from 16mg every

Folic Acid Deficiency
I have been on Warfarin for 8 years, range 3-4. I have had two Retinal Vein Occlusions. The first before treatment, and the second unfortunately when on Warfarin 3-4. Over the last two years I have experienced more fatigue and weakness, gut problems, palpitations, loss of appetite and considerable weight

INR Crashing
My self checker showed me at 2.8 Thursday night, which means it was actually 2.3. They increased my warfrin to 10mg a day Friday, (so I'm one increased dose in, and today my INR is 2.2 meaning its 1.7. I called the emergency line and they have suggested I supplement with aspirin tonight every 4 hours

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I last posted on here. I thought I'd update and also offer advice to those in a similar situation. I have so-called obstetric APS - that is my condition thus far only seems to affect pregnancy. After 3 + miscarriages and a stillbirth I had a healthy daughter in
