Desperately ill and really need help
Hi. I posted a couple of years ago with serious concerns and I just keep getting worse and can't find relief from my symptoms. I have Hashimotos and cannot utilise or tolerate thyroid hormone no matter what combination or type that I try (straight T4, combo T3/T4, NDT or T3 only). I feel so very ill

Advice on adrenal and thyroid test results please
I’ve recently had my adrenals and thyroid re-tested to check progress, specifically to judge whether my adrenals have recovered sufficiently to withstand the rigours of surgery which I may need in the next year or so. Note that Genova changed the reference ranges in 2015 – which doesn’t help interpretation

Only a couple of bloods were back when I went to the docs the other day. Still waiting for my Selenium and Zinc results. My magnesium level was 0.87 (0.70 - 1.00). Could I do with a little extra; it seems high enough in the range? In October's bloods my vit D was 54 >50 but last week's results

Serum copper as a novel biomarker for resistance to thyroid hormone
Shame this paper appears to have been largely ignored - though the authors have published lots of papers since 2010. Leads me to ask: Has anyone here had their copper:selenium ratio measured? Has anyone with diagnosed resistance to thyroid hormone had their copper level measured? [i]Biochem J.

Selenium
An hour long talk by D. Shrauzer, but worth listening to. I have 4 brazil nuts a day, giving me around 90mcg of selenium per nut. He recommends 3-400mcg daily. There are many amazing uses of Selenium, that I would never have known. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV-upp1YSBI

Morning all I've not been on here for a while. A few months back, I decided to see if acupuncture & Chinese meds could help me but basically I have to conclude that the answer is no. I did have a spell where my migraines went away but now they are back along with chronic pain in my neck & shoulders.

Elderly Mum with hypothyroid sleeping all day
Mum has been hypothyroid for decades and on 100mcg levothyroxine. Mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia last summer and has a very gradual deterioration in short term memory. Christmas Dad she was quite confused and didn't say much. I have noticed she has been more tired than usual and today I

Everything
Type in Dr. Peter Glidden in Youtube, he is very interesting, and certainly strengthens my views, about the medical profession. For example, taking 4 x Brazil nuts daily, or 200mcg Selenium, will reduce breast cancer by 83%. The medical profession should be telling girls, or Mums, should I say, from

Thyroid-S two weeks on and iodine supplementation
Thanks to all of you who replied to my original post regarding Thyroid-S. I have been taking one tab per day for two weeks now. I still take my Levo first thing in the morning, then my Thyroid-S at about 6pm. I haven't noticed any difference at all, except possibly a slight improvement in my sense

Low T3 in elderly cannot get prescription for T3
My 91 year old mother had a thyroid test at end of October 2015 showing low T3 below range..... serum free T4 level 16.2 (12-22), serum free T3 2.6 (3.1-6.8) and serum TSH 2.25 (0.3-4.2). I showed the results to Dr P when I visited for my own appointment and he said that she should be prescribed additional

Hashimoto's
I have Hashimoto’s. I have been on T4 for over a year. I am currently on 100mcg for the T4 and10mcg for the T3 but I have quite a few problems that I don’t know what to do about. Low ferritin - Iron deficiency? I have been told I am iron deficient because of my low ferritin and given ferrous fumarate

Only half of blood test results
After being diagnosed borderline hypo , getting horrendous symptoms, and after a lot of faffing about back and forward from the GP and insisting on referral to an Endo, I started taking 25mg levo in July, then upped to 50mg from Sept on advice of Endo and he said to have a further blood test 3 months
