Morning all

I've not been on here for a while. A few months back, I decided to see if acupuncture & Chinese meds could help me but basically I have to conclude that the answer is no. I did have a spell where my migraines went away but now they are back along with chronic pain in my neck & shoulders.

I have also developed pain in my knee & ankle joints along with what I suspect is plantar fasciitis in my right foot & ow that hurts like hell!

The Chinese dr thinks that my issues are stress/adrenal related with thyroid issues thrown in.

I've decided to get private blood tests done now because I really need to get this sorted & on meds if I need them.

I had a relatively good spell for a few months but in the last few weeks, I feel bad again :(

I do supplement & take liquid iron, liquid magnesium, Vit B12, Vit C, Vit D3, VitK2, VitA & selenium.

I am sorry your trial didn't work as well as you expected. If you need lab info, Thyroiduk.org have recommended ones in which you will get a small discount if you quote the Code number as does Thyroiduk.org to help with their expenses:-

Thank you Shaws, I am going on Thyroid UK now to get the blood tests ordered. I am going for the fully comprehensive Thyroid one which includes all the tests that the dr's/Endo's won't do.

Just for info and I think you'll be surprised when you read the link. If only the Endos/doctors would recognise the same:

I knew from my own research that in the USA, they would treat my thyroid TSH as being underactive as being above 3 but didn't know that they had lowered the TSH score down to 2.7.

I could understand it if I had just 1 or 2 symptoms but I have loads ticked off against the Thyroid UK checklist but because the computer says no I can't get diagnosed.

Fed up of being in some kind of pain every day!

That's why some patients are forced to self-medicate. That shouldn't be the case but unfortunately, due to the present guidelines, how long do they expect us to go here and there searching for the needle in the haystack and unable to function normally day-to-day.

i'm fully prepared to have to self medicate. I've not been right since July 2014. I muddled through the rest of the year but in some parts of 2015, I have been in absolute agony with little or no energy.

The GP's I have seen have been useless as was the NHS Endo.

I just want to feel well again, something that I thought dr's would be able to help with!

Unfortunately their hands are tied due to the guidelines and apparently it would seem that a large chunk has been missed when medical students on the Endocrine System/treatment.

It's a pity they don't use Thyroiduk.org's interpretation of blood tests as it is TUK who have the experience dealing with the thousands who don't/cannot get well due to the TSH and restricting doses to keep it somewhere in range.

Hello kk

Sorry to hear you are still unwell.

I love alternative medicine but if your thyroid hormones are low, they need to be raised usually by thyroid hormone replacement meds, or sups & diet if you are lucky.

I think the various forms of chinese medicine such as dietary herbs, acupuncture and massage work well along side these treatments but may be not powerful enough to replace.

It would be useful to have TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Have you had thyroid antibodies previously tested ?

Optimal iron, nutrients and good adrenal health are vital for favourable thyroid function.

Thanks Flower

I am going to get my bloods privately tested. My last TSH score was 3.2 which I know isn't massive but it's sure enough to make me feel really bad.

I just feel like I am in such a catch 22 as with this pain or migraines then exercise is out of the question unless I want to do further damage or throw up!

I remember 1 dr telling me to exercise through a migraine & I was like really?!

That's the last thing I want to do!

I eat the same foods as my husband as we are both self employed & work from home. While we have been together, he's put on 7lbs....his TSH is 1..... I have put on 2.5 stone, if they say that your weight is 80% determined by your diet, you can see that there is some sort of issue with my metabolism!

I have 1 lot of thyroid antibody tests done which was negative but as I am going for the full load of private blood tests then I am hoping this will finally give me the answers that I need!

Headaches, pain, shoulders and neck..... Not clenching your teeth in your sleep are you? Try a mouth guard from the dentist.... Could make a world of difference.

I don't think so galathea. I've had hormonal migraines for ages but being in peri menopause has meant they have gone out of control now! :(
