What do my night terrors mean?
A couple of years ago I began to have night terrors, only occasionally, in the year 2010, I only had approximately two night terrors, similarly in 2011. As of July this year, I've been having these night terrors on a regular basis. To begin with, only a few a week. But now I have them every night. Sometimes

Is the harmonic scalpel used in laparoscopy for removal of endometriosis and adhesions a good method?
I've just found out that my surgeon will be using a harmonic scalpel to excise my endometriosis and adhesions. She also said that barrier methods are not used as apparently there is no proof that they make any difference to adhesions forming afterwards. Just wondering if this is a good method. Has anyone

Hi Everyone, I was finally told yesterday by Dr that the results of US scan showed lymph damage after R/therapy 8 years ago.
He did call it Lymphedema but said the compression hose and painkillers I am using were all thats available except tighter hose that are painful to wear, and thats IT. After looking up on internet and seeing all the other things available I am now wondering why non of this was offered.? He didn't even

Is anyone familiar with the term, "ratcheting"?
Increasingly, during the past year, raising my right arm against pressure has caused the movement to come in short, jerky segments. My neuro referred to them as "cogwheel rigidity or ratcheting). She explained that, each time a muscle contracts, another opposing muscle must relax to let desired movement

4 weeks since my op (minimally invasive oesphegus removal) 2 weeks out of hospital. I'm getting pain/discomfort under my ribs - more below
The operation and aftermath was surprisingly pain free and I feel well but now the skin under my ribs, away from the scars, feels numb to the touch, lower ribs are sore and the whole area feels uncomfortable. GP is keeping an eye. Has anyone else had this and how long does it last?

Anyone else tried Kelocote scar gel?
I was given a free sample of this at a conference - it is a silicone based gel that is intended for use on scars to soften them and help them heal. I was interested to have a go as I have had several ops and my belly resembles a map of the London Underground! However, having applied it to my scars,

My partner had a confirmed diagnosis of pulmonary fibroris yesterday at the local hospital based on symptoms and CT scan. His suggested treatment was do nothing and review in 3 months. I wasn't very happy with this especially having seen the video link on this site which suggested that pirfenidone can

Got over last weeks chest infection OK, have stopped using the nebuliser now and have gone back to my pre op puffer routine and am feeling pretty good, sleeping is getting easier now and I am getting about 7 hours sleep at night still and a siesta in the afternoons. I have noticed that I am not so

Pelvic Pain: The Role of Scar Tissue
Scar tissue is a common contributing factor to pelvic pain. The good news is: it’s an issue that’s highly treatable with PT. In this blog, I plan to give you the rundown of how scar tissue can impair the pelvic floor as well as how PT and self-treatment can successfully treat these impairments.

Guess what? It's the trim sole question again
I already have two pairs of trim sole boots which I wore last year, but they do make your legs work harder. I was actually more concerned that the soles have different densities in different parts of them and if that would be construed as any type of massaging motion, and we all know that anything close

I got a tip today from someone with stage 3 lung disease. He said you won't find it on any website but...
He said to clear mucus and avoid colds buy menthol crystals from Boots. Put 1 (only one because they are very strong) into some warm water. Leave for about a minute, hold it to your nose and inhale for a short while. Do this no more than once every week or two.. He swears by it and said it works

Old scars and flares
Does anyone else have this strange symptom around a flare ? My old scars can become irritated , itch and some actually start to become very red and develop a rash around them? Thought it was a coincidence but it has now happened a few times.

Anyone had vaginal birth after third degree tear?
Four years ago had my 1st child. It was a 10lb baby, difficult and prolonged birth and I suffered a 3rd degree tear. While the tear healed I had a lot of granulation tissue which I had surgically removed 5 months later. It had really put me off having any more kids but I've made the decision and now

One of the advantages of having relatives to stay is that you visit the local attractions which are ignored during your day to day life. I have had my cousin here for the last fortnight which has been a bit of a mixed blessing as I'm not very good at saying when things get too tiring or painful for

Scarring on lungs
I saw my gp today, my results from my repeat chest x-ray has come back. I have scarring on my lungs. Pulmonory fibrosis I think its call. I'm in my 30s, had tb when I was 9. The pulmonary fibrosis is the reason I had a 5 month long dry cough.

Has anyone had any success with Reflexology?
Having been diagnosed with Stage 3-4 endometriosis in March after a laparoscopy, I have just started a 6 month treatment of Decapeptyl SR in an attempt to shrink the nodules by putting myself through a temporary menopause. However, I am interested in Reflexology so just wondering if anyone has any positive

Scar tissue and inactive endo in pouch of douglas after months of pain.
Hi for those who were interested in the outcome after my weird symptoms, i had my lap last week and recovering well, if a little tired. I don't remember much of what the consultant said when she saw me after, but she obviously saw a fibroid which she was "very tempted to cut off but couldnt" and also
