Rifaximin

I have delayed my Rifaximin to take then but had to treat the uti and was worried about overlapping antibiotics so I did a search and this cropped up! A lot is way over my head but if you go to the last two sections on conclusion and effect of Rifaximin it’s fascinating.

I have none alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver I have just been started on rifaximin tablets which is only for hepatic encephalopathy which is bad and I am worried should I be

I’d anyone else on Rifaxmin tablets? I hope I spelt it correctly, and if you are can you five while on them?

He is on rifaximin and recently started taking Lo-La (L-Ornithine -L-Aspartate), 3g, one sachet 3 times a day, from 6th August. This seems to be working well at keeping the HE at bay at the moment. He has not been taking lactulose.

Previously she advised I had SIBO and was prescribed rifaximin. That antibiotic did not solve my problem. I am suffering with excessive gas, trapped wind and bloating. I have been on laxido for around two years as it appeared that I was constipated.

Took an 8 week course of rifaximin (550 mg, twice a day) and assumed all was well. SIBO seems to have come back this year (positive breath test), and I am repeating the course of antibiotics.

I’ve started Rifaximin today for a SIBO diagnosis (private, of course, my NHS GP said “what’s SIBO” when I took the test result to her). Seems like it’s super common for people with thyroid issues to have SIBO, so for those of you with gut problems I think it’s worth checking out.

Hi , I have been prescribed Rifaximin for SIBO, 200mg ,3 times a day for 2 weeks to see if it helps with my symptoms.I know others have been prescribed this before ,please can anyone advise on how well t was tolorated and did it work?

Although the treatment for H.E. is Lactulose, Enemas, suppositories and Rifaximin combinations to try to eliminate the ammonia toxins, there is also a drug called L.O.L.A (L-Ornithine, L-Aspartate) that my husband was trying and it was working and reducing the ammonia level, for my husband though, sadly

He’s also on rifaximin which improved his condition massively for a short while but he’s been on a downward trajectory all of this year. I just wanted to talk to someone else who’s been in this situation.

My gastroenterologist suggested staying on Rifaximin bit I don't think it is the best way forward. I would rather work with an integrative specialist to find and address a root cause. There are a lot of SIBO Clinics but I would rather go by a recommendation. Thank you. Sasha

Already taking nepopam for back pain, rifaximin for HE, ramipril for blood pressure. thiamene, lactulose, lanzoprazole, asthma inhaler clenil modulite and the do told me to start back on my Baclofen which I used to get off SMS.

Oh, and is rifaximin easier to swallow that metronidazole ?

Apparently rifaximin is an antibiotic (never knew that) so after a nebuliser and having his bloods checked he was sent home being g told to take his rifaximin as prescribed as will help infection if it doesn't get any better go back in a few days.

I reached out to dietitian last week who's prescribed 2 Renopro shots per day (20g protein/60ml bottle) and he has been having 2 fortisip compact protein (18g protein/125ml bottle) for a while, he recently began taking Rifaximin (today is day 8) and now im wondering if its having a decreased effect

2-My rifaximin course is completed, but I stopped metronidazole due to discomfort. Was it necessary to continue, and can I benefit from continuing with herbal antibiotics? 3-I heard that Atrantil pills are therapeutic for methane gas. Can anyone with experience share insights on this?
