Staph Infections Rifampin
Has anyone had to use rifampin while on Zytiga? Jim has been having recurrent skin staph infections. His PCP is considering rifampin, but UCSF says he'll have to double his Zytiga & prednisone dosage for a month and get two week metabolic panel bloodwork. Jim's not wanting to rock the boat since

Thyroid Hormone Transporters in a Human Placental Cell Model
There has long been the received wisdom that T3 does not cross the placenta. I am not aware this has been proved in any level of detail. This paper appears to make that look wrong. Indeed, it appears to identify specific pharmaceutical agents which directly and significantly affect T3 transport

Latent tb treatment
Hello all! I discovered I have latent TB a few years ago via routine screening for working in a health center. I decided not to treat because the chance of activation is so low. But with covid I decided I should do the treatment. I’m having a lot of anxiety about the meds for the 3 month 3 HP treatment

Rifampicin & Resveratrol Nasal Spray
Hello to All, There recently were some studies published detailing the possible neurological benefits in "Nasal Spray of Rifampicin & Resveratrol". https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/22/16/8453/htm I realise that many may state, it was just in mice, so not that relevant. However, I believe that there is

Gilbert's Syndrome (unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia) and NASH (scientific point of view)
First I have to warn everyone that is about scientific articles and not everyone likes this stuff. Moreover is not approved fact. Nothing conclusive but below some studies about unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia (like in Gilbert's Syndrome) and some possible protective role for liver. But keep in mind

Headaches with Isoniazid
Hi, just started this for my Latent TB and am experiencing terrible headaches in the night, it hurts my eyes and it’s there during the day after taking painkillers too. I spoke to my nurse and she said Headaches aren’t a side effect but I haven’t changed anything else. I’m also taking prednisone 10mg

Active Tb
Hello all, I am writing to share my story. I am a doctor myself as well. My symptoms started 6 months ago. I felt difficulty in breathing while climbing stairs. At this time I consulted a doctor, had an xray which mistakenly was thought to be normal and was started on bronchodilators for query exercise

Rifampin latent TB side effects
Hello! This group has been so helpful in learning more about everyone’s experiences with TB. I am currently taken rifampin to treat latent TB. I have been having heart palpitations. It’s hard to tell if they are due to anxiety or if something else is going on. I read that anxiety can be a side effect
