Yet another question about cirrhosis.
I'm so sorry to bother everyone again. I promise this will be my last post for quite some time [hopefully]. I'm taking some advice from a couple of lovely members from this forum who have advised me to try and not worry so much over every detail of my condition, and live each day to its fullest. Just

Questions about Cirrhosis Prognosis
Hi Everyone. I have yet another question[s] [I'm sorry!] I just read a post from 6 years ago that gave me a bit of a fright, and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice on this? The post stated that cirrhosis patients can do "remarkably well provided they can keep clean, & early stage cirrhosis

hi everyone, I’m 29F, at the end of April I was hospitalised for e-coli, given anti biotics and PPI’s through my IV line for 3 days, then continued on oral anti biotics with PPI’s for 5 days My symptoms continued and my ALT/AST are at 952/370 and continuing to rise still today, I feel awful, nauseous

Just a few more questions about Cirrhosis
Hello, it's me [again]. Only one more day until I go for my endoscopy as they picked up varices on my cat scan. May [or most definitely will, according to my gastroenterologist] have to band them. This whole procedure has got me thinking again, and I inevitably then end up with more questions [sorry]

Exercise
Hi all, I'm due for repeat liver enzyme tests next week for slightly elevated GGT and ALT, I've stopped drinking since Feb ( apart from a beer last weekend) and I've started weight training at the gym. I'm starting to lose weight but I've read weight training can cause elevated liver enzymes and to not

Do you have cirrhosis (or care for someone who does) and want to help prioritise what research is done in the UK?
The British Liver Trust is working with UK CLIF Network and supported by the James Lind Alliance on a project called the Liver Cirrhosis James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership (JLA PSP). The group includes patients, carers, and health professionals with expertise in liver cirrhosis.

Uncertainty of living with Cirrhosis
Hi Everyone. I'm so sorry to bother you all again, but I've had a very down day. I just thought I'd post a reply I sent to one of the lovely members of this group, with the hope that maybe someone could share with me and the rest of this lovely group how they cope with this condition. I wrote to him

AST to ALT ratio has become greater than 1 after decades of elevated levels
My ALT and AST have been elevated for decades. For second time in a row now, my AST has becomevhigher than ALT ; they are currently in 60ish range. A very nice article i read on the DiRitiis ratio from around 2013 says my new current ratio of 1.1 suggests fibrosis and ir bad prognosis to cirrhosis

Cirrhosis and very scared - please help!
Hi. I'm so glad I stumbled on this site and I'm hoping that someone could be kind enough to reach out to me? I'm so very, very scared, and it's all my own fault. I have suffered from an anxiety disorder for 15 - 20 years and used wine to cope....and lots of it. I was diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis

New fatty liver diagnosis
Hi All, today I had a fibro scan which revealed that my liver has no scarring with a score of 3.9kpa which was good news, however, the cap score was 307 which was worrying. I gave up alcohol 6 months ago following an attack of acute pancreatitis and being hospitalised for 4 days, this event was enough

Decompensated cirrhosis of the liver
My husband was recently diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis of the liver in April of 2024 after 2 weeks in the hospital. He was discharged with some medications. Since then he was readmitted in May for a week, and in June for a week. He has ascites and everything else that comes with the disease

Really good news
I just wanted to share my story in case it helps others. In December last year I had an ultrasound scan and the results were probable cirrhosis, portal vein hypertension and varices. There were also "suspicious lesions". Fast Forward to a biopsy I had last month (following over six months of abstinence

TACE procedure
Hello all, an update my husband has cirrhosis NAL and 2 tumours were found. He had the above procedure a few weeks ago and good news yesterday the procedure has been successful, no cancer lighting up. Now it’s regular CT/MRI. To all of you awaiting this procedure I truly hope you have this outcome

Finding my way
I am still new to Kidney issues and looking for some guidance. Post liver transplant in Sept 2022, i had CMV virus, but over the last year my kidney function is declining. I think it was about 22% this time last year, but is now 19%- and probably continuing to fall. I am being monitored, my next

Enlarged liver and spleen
I'm so sorry to bother everyone again, it's just that I have [yet another] question. My liver and spleen are enlarged as a result of my cirrhosis - by not drinking, exercising and eating cleanly, is there any chance of the liver and spleen shrinking back to close to the size they should be? Thank you
