I just wanted to share my story in case it helps others. In December last year I had an ultrasound scan and the results were probable cirrhosis, portal vein hypertension and varices. There were also "suspicious lesions". Fast Forward to a biopsy I had last month (following over six months of abstinence from alcohol and lots of lifestyle changes) , it was normal only showing "very mild changes". My gastroenterologist puts this down to me quitting drinking. THERE IS HOPE :). All the best to all of you who are struggling, keep up the good work of abstinence, fitness and healthy living. It can really make a huge difference. 😀😀😀

Really good news
Well done you and congrats on your abstinence, your liver can improve massively just by removing the poison that is alcohol from attacking it. Keep it up, good luck and take care.
Another inspiring post.
awesome news for you? So just to clarify did the biopsy ever confirm cirrhosis? Or do you do not have cirrhosis at all?
It is unclear as to whether or not I definitely had cirrhosis when I first became unwell, but my gastro said if not cirrhosis, definitely advanced fibrosis. Biopsy came back as normal but with "very mild changes". Not sure exactly what that means but have asked for clarification from the consultant. Sounds good though
Update to post above. Spoke with my gastroenterologist, mild changes in my liver consistent with early fatty liver disease or reversed fatty liver disease. Quitting alcohol really works! Also lots of exercise and healthy eating. All the best to you all struggling with this awful disease. Never give up, you can make amazing changes in your liver xxx
