Hey everyone,
I have a Liver Biopsy next week, as my blood tests have shown that my body is attacking my liver as it thinks it's "Foreign".
I'm going under general for it.
Does anyone know why my body is attacking my liver?
Thanks,

"Autoimmune hepatitis is when your body's infection-fighting system (immune system) attacks your liver cells. It is a long-term chronic liver disease that causes inflammation and liver damage. Experts don't know what causes it, but it is more likely to appear in people living with other autoimmune conditions."
Hi, I cannot really answer your question, I had a liver biopsy on Monday where they took out 5 biops and now waiting on the results. My advice is to be positive and to tackle whatever lies ahead. Good Luck.
Hi, hubbie had/has AIH (autoimmune hepatitis) the liver trust has information about this on their web site go to ' information and support ' on the drop down menu then 'liver conditions' then 'more' and the 'a-c' . For some reason it doest work in the search box. There does not appear to be a reason for the immune system to attack the liver and hubbie didn't have any other immune disorder. He is very lucky as it appears to nolonger be a problem (at the moment🤞) but it did take a while for them to diagnose. It was controlled with steroids and immune suppressants to give his liver a chance to heal and deal most of the liver functions. He is nolonger on any medication. Also a change of diet and life style. He still has cirrhosis (scaring on the liver). There are others on here with experience of AIH who may offer more information. I hope all goes well next week.
