I love my gin and tonic and came across some non alcoholic gin.

Anyone know if having tonic, that has quinine, an issue for PC?

When I was younger I used to drink Brio, an Italian soft drink containing quinine, which is available in Canada and I think the United States too. The quinine provides an exotic and delicious taste.

As you were certainly aware per your enthusiasm for gin and tonics, quinine has a known anti-malarial effect.

Quinine is powerful and maybe it does other worthwhile things as well. (Added later: apparently quinine is also dangerous.) There seems to be a fair amount of research out there on the possible benefits of quinine derivatives as adjunct prostate cancer therapies.

My hubby was advised to take Quinine capsules to help leg cramps. So far it's working.

Oh now were talking. Gin is a serious achilles heel for me.

Get some Brockmans gin and Fever Tree. Trust me, its something you'll want to try.

👍

Brockmans is my favourite out of the 25 bottles of gin in my collection.

I built a gin still and got pretty good at it. My favorite was an imitation of Sapphire East with lemongrass and black pepper. I also made a version with a big dose of grains of paradise. I experimented making my own tonic using al the regular stuff but found that Fever Tree waas consistently better than mine. I have a few that were amazing but only a few.

Never got malaria during the gin and tonic days. I still have 17 gallons of first run high proof alcohol and might make some more gin. BTW my gin was navy strength and stronger.

no it is real any dcent tonic is flavored with cinchona bark which contains quinine, this is what gives it the bitter aspect of the flavor. i used cinchona bark as well as a variety of other herbs to make mine.

My dad used to drink a cup a couple day because of his leg cramps didn’t help his leg cramps, but nothing does not affect his prostrate cancer issue

Fellow Canadian here. Why non alcoholic gin? If you only have a few G and T's each week, you should drink what you enjoy. A little alcohol is not going to impact your cancer much. Everything in moderation. Life needs to be fun too. I've been dealing with stage IV for 5.5 years. Currently my PSA and bone mets are undetectable. There is no way I would give up my weekend G and Ts. 😀

I hate to be the bear of bad news but from what I understand alcohol is one of the worst causes of cancer maybe that's why cancer is so prevalent as for Tonic in Canada it has very very low amounts of that malaria drug you would have to drink hundreds of bottles everyday sorry my voice text cannot say quinnon on
