Scary times
Just learned that my gfr is down to 14. I knew dialysis was in my future but now it looks like it is here. Not a candidate for peritoneal dialysis because of too many abdominal surgeries. Worried about having cannulas in my arm. Seems like a high risk for infection. I had MRSA and it was very unpleasant

Home dialysis question
Has anyone had experience with both home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis? If so, what were the pros and cons for each.

Peritoneal Dialysis Challenges
Hi There, I believe there are restrictions for both hemo- and peritoneal dialysis and both types of dialysis are challenging…Having ESRD and having to go on dialysis disrupts your life in so many ways and you grieve for the life you used to have. This is my second time around being on PD😕 Although

Activity restrictions on peritoneal dialysis?
I just attended my first PD orientation and I am very sad to learn that once the catheter is in place I won't be able to soak in a bathtub or go swimming. The RN didn't seem in favor of doing other strenuous sports like snowboarding or running. Have other been able to stay active and do sports while

At a Dialysis Crossroads
I have to decide whether to get a fistula in my arm and go with hemodialysis, or go with peritoneal dialysis. I spent a couple of hours in a center talking to a couple of nurses about peritoneal dialysis and it sounds like a bad choice given its near constant presence in your life. With hemodialysis

Help me help my grams
I had training and gave my grams manual peritoneal dialysis for 30 days. She is now on the Liberty cycler and I go there every night and set her up. This is week 3 on the cycler and she wants to quit. She turns 90 tomorrow and wants to know if she will ever feel better. She gets lightheaded a lot with

PD help!
New here… Daughter on hemodialysis for 10+ years. Started peritoneal dialysis a few months ago. She is handicapped and cannot perform her own PD. My husband and I would like to hire someone to perform it for her from time to time. Is there nursing care out there for that?

Hi. I'm have CKD stage 4, possibly 5. My gfr is 13. I'm on the national renal transplant list for a donated kidney. I have opted for peritoneal dialysis when it gets to gfr 9. How we grow and empathise through shared story
It's UK Kidney Week #UKKW2021 which really means there happens to be a big virtual conference happening in the renal community this week. I'm thrilled to be part of the conversation in self care with a brilliant human chairing, Dr Kate Bramham, on Friday. Kate was the on ward consultant last September

Integrating a holistic approach to kidneys
My kidneys have been amongst my wisest teachers. Teachers come in many forms, don't they? As we are in such an evolutionary time, it's so important we honour who we truly are, and share the stories in safe harbour, about our journey. Not from victimhood, but from celebration of the human spirit. For

Hello everyone, I hope you guys can stand a less serious question. I've been on hemodialysis for the last year and a half. I received Vancomycin, which saved my life but took out my kidneys. So one day no kidney issues, the next day dialysis. That actually has nothing to do with my question, just

Peritoneal Dialysis
Hello Community- My husband started Hemodialysis in February. He goes to the center Mon, Wed & Fri. When he gets home he's really tired. On his days off, he's still trying to recooperate. He wants to know if there's anyone out there that do Peritoneal Dialysis at home during the night. The center

I just started home cycler peritoneal dialysis and would like to hear people's experiences with different products. Am considering a dialysis belt instead of daily use of tape, which eventually irritates my skin. What features do you look for in a belt? Have you used a transfer set holder on a neck
