Myoclonus?
Hi, does anyone else here suffer from severe bouts of full-body myoclonus? It started when I was on peritoneal dialysis, in connection with a medication called ropinerole. It continued after I stopped the medication, and even 3 years after my transplant. I've seen neurologists, had EEGs, done everything

Messing Up
I am my Dad's "go to person" when it comes to his Dialysis machine and informing him of any and all changes that are made. For those who are familiar with Home Peritoneal Dialysis where you do it at home; and, in my Dad's case, he does his dialysis care with the aid of the machine overnight (when he

A warning to older men on dialysis and those who have had transplants
I am 68 years old and had a transplant in 2016. Previous to this I was on peritoneal dialysis for a couple of years. Everything went well with the transplant but I was having trouble with the frequent need to pee. Initially it was thought that my bladder just needed time to get used to a working kidney

Feeling Lost & Empty & Numb as a Female Caregiver; Does anyone else feel this way?
Right now, I feel so empty on the inside....my Dad's health is really going down hill; and I am so not ready to lose either of my parents and this totally scares me to death. Since he has been on Home Peritoneal Dialysis and instead of using 2 bags of fluids at night, they had to increase it to 3 bags

I'm new to all this - Holidays doing PD
My husband has just started peritoneal dialysis. We hope to have a holiday in France next year but I feel concerned in case he gets an infection and needs to go to hospital. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company?

Were you aware of pseudomyxoma peritonei before you were diagnosed?
We know that
pseudomyxoma
peritonei
(PMP) is a rare disease, we anecdotally hear of patients who already know another patient or know of another patient. Did you?

Peritoneal Dialysis & insomnia
Hi guys. I'm new to 'health unlocked', & am trying to resolve the problem of not being able to sleep during my nighttime transfer. I have been on PD for two years, the first 18 months of which worked with no problems at all, then I gradually started to have problems dropping off to sleep & staying asleep.I

I’m a newbie...
I’m going to have peritoneal dialysis very soon, I have many questions and would also like some advice and input from someone who’s “been there and done that” Any info, advice, shortcuts, do’s and don’ts, or anything you might feel helpful. Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your responses

Recurring pneumonia in PT dialysis
My husband is on peritoneal dialysis. He has a kidney donor but we have been fighting pneumonia for 9 months now and its holding up the transplant. He recently had a broncoscope done to help with diagnosis as antibiotics were not working. Inconclusive results. Were told to wait 3 months and do another

PD -what are the cons (everyone talks about the pros) other than infection?
I prefer Peritoneal Dialysis over Hemo and talked to several Kidney advocates and nurses. All talk about the pros compared to Hemo. Except for infection I have not heard many other risks or discomforts from direct patients. Would like to hear from and connect with anyone who is currently on PD or has

Living on a narrowboat
I am likely to start on dialysis some time this year and was going to opt for peritoneal dialysis. Does anyone have any idea if this is viable on a narrowboat? I would be considering the overnight dialysis, not continual. Many thanks for any thoughts.

Intradialytic Hypertension?
Has anyone else been diagnosed with Intradialytic Hypertension? If so, what did you do to manage it or mitigate it? I'm aware that peritoneal dialysis doesn't have this complication. Thanks. https://www.ajkd.org/article/S0272-6386(09)01145-7/pdf Intradialytic Hypertension: A Less-Recognized Cardiovascular

Preparing for a new chapter
Hello everyone, I’m not use to being on forums but I feel so lost and alone, I don’t know who else to turn to. I’m 28 years old and the oldest daughter of my family. We recently found out my mom (52) is at her end stage of renal disease. She just had a catheter inserted to prepare for Peritoneal Dialysis

Anoushica shares her journey of lupus to kidney failure

Especially for younger people going through this journey, I hope it inspires you and you feel comforted to know we

Keep moving and gaining strength on dialysis
hi all, I am a big fan of movement - for me I enjoy dance, long walks in nature and asana (the movement aspect of yoga which is just one aspect of what yoga is). As a yoga teacher and naturopathic nutritional therapist, I am so grateful to have the tools to really take care of myself. Here I share a
