Wife getting MMR vaccine booster - isolate or not?
I'm an SLL patient, 55 years old, now about 2.5 years into remission after 6 FCR treatments. I just recovered from a recent (and thankfully mild) bout of shingles. My shingles was so mild that my GP wasn't convinced it actually was shingles! She had me tested for herpes zoster antibodies, and for good

FLU VACCINE
I am in the UK on Venetoclax and have just spent 5 days in hospital with COVID. Is it safe to have the flu vaccine and is it hit or miss whether the vaccine is actually for the strain of flu which is going to be around this winter

My Bladder Cancer Update.
My latest flexy cystoscopy showed I had no tumour in my bladder, backing up what was said in Autumn 2023 and that was a complete turn-around. Seems my BCG has worked in as far as there si no tumour growth. I still have cancer cells because I have cancer in situ (CIS) but at moment is low grade. So

I promised a painting for the 14 and being a heart shape canvas I could not use the easel. I ruined the picture with my sleeve going in paint on palate and it got onto painting - Ruined. I have done one not as good by painting the canvas black, and painted a picture ok for black canvas, Could not

Shingles Vaccine, MS & DMT's
Hi All, How many of you have had the Shingles Vaccine? My PCP encouraged me to get it (the newer, double dose vaccine) because he told me that I was at greater risk than the general population to get Shingles. He then went on to explain that having MS and being immune compromised/suppressed makes

Flu jab
As flu vaccine season will soon be on us I was wondering if my husband will get a flu jab this year (I have asthma, therefore I qualify). In previous years he has been eligible but I believe the criteria has changed. Any thoughts?

Atrial Fibrillation and Shingles vaccine
Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, my history being a F73 and have had very symptomatic PAF since 2015 and was put on Sotalol, Pradaxa and amlodipine for BP. In 2018 I had a cryoablation and got off the Sotalol which was replaced by 2.5mg of Bisoprolol to help with BP. I have not had AF since which

no you can't have the shingles as it is a live vaccine. You don't get offered the shingles vaccine until you are 70

What s happening in our NHS ?- All the shortages.
Two examples - I take Amiodarone for AF and other fast heart beats, I have had to have my prescription sent to another village, and they are running short. Glandosane synthetic saliva spray - Dry mouth is dross to put it mildly. no pharmacy near where I live has any. Not just the the BCG treatment

Shingles Vaccine
I have RA and am currently taking hydroxychloroquin, methotrexate and amgevita. I’m trying to work out whether at age 61 with a compromised immune system, I will qualify for the new shingrix (shingles non-live) vaccine on the NHS? Does anyone know?

Shingles Vaccine
Hi everybody. Just looking at the new advertising campaign for the shingles vaccine although those who are 70-79 are entitled to it looks like those of us over 50 who are severely immune suppressed can have the 2 x dose of (non live) Shingrix from September 1st. Is this right? Please shoot me out the

BC Which Hospital Update _ and eyesl
I got a call saying I could go into local hospital for my flexy cystoscopy There is a 25 mile difference. My last rigid cystoscopy showed that 5 out of 6 biopsies was low grade, hence the flexy cystoscopy.. I have not long ago finished my 3 x BCG infusions - Have they worked, my flexy cystoscopy

A Bladder Cancer Update.
I got a telephone call early this morning, I was still in bed. Was a woman offering me a place in a Private Hospital for A 'FLEXY CYSTOSCOPY' Good news but the hospital was miles away in Preston, in fact the other side. So I asked her could I not get in at my local hospital - She then started talking

These are medical tests which look for bacteria, viruses or fungi. They can be ordered for body fluids such as urine, blood or stools. Some of us with P.A. or B12 deficiency might have H.pylori or overgrowth of microorganisms in the small intestine. I had a stool test and gut microbiome tests. The microbiome

NHS shingles vaccine will be offered to almost one million more people
I’m not sure whether this has been mentioned already (I did check) but as I just found this recently elsewhere thought it might be of interest to those of us who have not been eligible for the vaccine yet. https://www.england.nhs.uk/2023/07/nhs-shingles-vaccine-will-be-offered-to-almost-one-million-more-people

BC Update with GP.
First I rang Macmillan and they thought it very odd my cancer had gone from high to low. So rang my consultants secretary and she was not there, the people in charge said they were not qualified to help. I saw my GP today and like myself had a letter with no details at the top, this matters because

Just seen the BBC news health website. Shingles vaccines being offered to over 65’s ( was 70) and, even better, to vulnerable immune suppressed people over 55 from September 2023.
