The government has released a bulletin offering secondary school pupils a free flu vaccine at school from 1st September. Please note the following:
All children and young people with JIA are encouraged to have the flu vaccine.
The standard vaccine is a nasal spray which contains a live vaccine and is therefore unsuitable for children with JIA taking medications. Instead, please request the inactivated injection form of the vaccine via your child’s GP.
Siblings and parents are encouraged to get a flu vaccine too.
