Why my hand numb while dialysis?
It's been couple months I noticed that my right hand became numb while on the third and fourth hour's dialysis. My fistula is on the left arm. No pain, just numb, I had to constantly rub on it with my other hand to make it go away. And then, I noticed sometimes at home this will happen too while not

abdominal pain with PD catheter
Since having a PD catheter placed 4 months ago I keep getting episodes of lower abdominal pain. The pain is deep, intermittent, and sometimes severe enough that I have gone to the emergency room. But labs and scans find nothing wrong. I’m not doing dialysis yet, since GFR is sitting at 15. I am on a

Beta Blockers such as Carvedilol
I've been on medication for basically my entire life, and for the most part I've never had an issue but I recently started dialysis again, and I was put on all these blood pressure medications. I've been experiencing hair loss. One of them, Carvedilol, is a beta blocker. I researched it and apparently

Hi, newbie here
I was admitted to Cardio Thoracic Critical Care on 28th Nov, 2022, with Double Pneumonia & Sepsis. I have no memory of the period from walking into the ambulance to having my Tracheostomy removed 4 weeks later. My family have filled in some of the blanks, & I have the scars as evidence. I then spent

Beginning Peritoneal Dialysis
So my journey begins. I had surgery this morning for placement of my PD catheter. All in all, the experience hasn't been bad at all. They used general anesthesia, so I don't remember any of it after they gave me the happy juice. I barely remember my driver leaving the hospital and pulling into the driveway

So I've been putting off this post for a while, so i could do a fairly "inclusive" amount of information in one post. First, I want to report SUCCESS in my PD journey. It's actually working! Whoo hoo! This has been quite the episode for me. Not sure if I can definite it exactly other than in terms

CDC analysis finds more Staph bloodstream infections in Blacks, Hispanics and people with chest caths on dialysis
A new CDC study finds statistically significant inequities in staph infections by race and dialysis access. One major take away is to get that fistula or graft early enough to avoid having a chest cath. https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/healthcare-associated-infections/cdc-analysis-finds-more-staph-bloodstream-infections-blacks

I know this written from the point of view of someone who has been through the experience and survived it as unscathed as I could realistically hope and so have a great deal of sympathy for those going through the very early stages but I do wonder if my recovery may have been helped by a strange set

So I posted that I had my PD Catheter placement surgery yesterday morning and I felt pretty good all day. Didn't even have to take the pain med I was given. Then last night about 5:30pm, I noticed an uncomfortable feeling and a bit of pain in my bladder area. I tried to pee and even though I felt like
