Parkinson's disease progression can be slowed with vigorous exercise
"A team of researchers at Northwestern Medicine and the University of Colorado School of Medicine wanted to find out whether high- or moderate-intensity exercise was safe for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Would it help with the disease’s symptoms, the progressive loss of muscle control, tremors,

Interaction between supplements and selegiline
I'm on selegiline. Noticed worsening of symptoms when started taking 5-HTP. When checked from WebMD , it was confirmed that it is a result of interaction between the two. Wondering if there are supplements also that interact with PD medications. I guess that there may be some excel sheet or table available

Helpless and Guilty
My mother was diagnosed with CBD in July, but she's had symptoms for approximately 3 years. She uses a walker around the house, balance is horrible, her right leg is quite useless and her right arm is bent most of the time. Mentally she recalls some things with ease, other things not at all. Slow physical

I was diagnosed over 4 years ago with P D, I see the neurologist less than every 6 months, sometimes having to telephone for next appointment because I haven’t received one. I have never seen a Parkinson’s nurse, originally as she was on Maternity Leave , I finally got one for this October then in Sept

How To Stop and Prevent Sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass and strength)
"Sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass and strength, becomes more common with age and can decrease lifespan and quality of life. "Eating enough calories and high-quality protein can slow down the rate of muscle loss. Omega-3 and creatine supplements may also help fight sarcopenia. "Nevertheless, exercising

Long Term Usage Mucuna Extract vs Mucuna Whole Herb
I was formally diagnosed in 2011. Shortly after this occurred, because I have a 40 year background in natural medicine, and also because I was unable to tolerate Sinemet, I started to try various natural protocols that had been shown to be effective for some people with Parkinson's. One of the first

PSP and "freezing"? PSP in Africa
Hi, my dad has just been diagnosed with PSP. He lives in Zimbabwe. (anyone else out there?) I don't think PSP is so well recognised in Africa. He was originally diagnosed wiht Parkinsons in 2014. But has had lots of falls and has deteriorated fairly rapidly and now the local neurologist thinks its

Rasagiline (Azilect) costing more in 2018
Just got a notice from Humana, my husband’s drug plan, that the generic rasagiline is moving to a higher pricing tier in 2018! Why would they do this? And does it seem to delay the progression of Parkinson’s like first hoped, or does it help much? He is considering dropping it. He was diagnosed two

Different Med manufacturers
I take Carbidopa 25 along with my other meds. I had always been using manufacturer Alvogen. The pharmacist changed me to another manufacture for Carbidopa three days later I was in ER so dizzy, short of breath and just felt terrible. The ER doc talked to the pharmacist in the hospital and he said there

Cocktails anybody?

I NEED GUIDANCE
My husband has gone from a diagnosis of probable Parkinson's, to
Parkinsonism
, to Lewy Body Dementia. At the first diagnosis of Parkinson's he was given Carbidopa-Levodopa 25/100 and told to titrate it to 3 pills a day within 3 weeks. I know how stupid that was now.

Your attitude is half the battle!
Nobody wants to received a PD diagnosis. I did 9 years ago. And like most of you, I went through a period of anger and sadness. But when I finally came to realize that I had a choice - I could live with joy with Parkinson's or not, either way I would still have Parkinson's. That was such an epiphany
