New to AF advice?
Hello everyone, I am new to AF, starting last Sunday. I have had an ECG and awaiting a consult with a cardiologist. I have been in AF since it started and on medication. Went from an average HR of 57 to 90, just like that, boggles my mind. I am a very active 52 year old with big retirement dreams

regurgitating heart valves
Thank you for all the replies to my message re the above. I saw a Cardiologist this morning. I had an ECG, he listened to my heart and at the end of the consultation indicated that my heart was strong and he would refer me back to my GP. I was delighted that I had nothing to worry snout. Kind regards

My turn to go to A&E
Well what a day i had yesterday, at about 4am i woke up in a right state as couldn't breathe. It took quite a while for me t get back to sleep. When i woke up i didn't feel well at all. It was as much as i wanted to do just to get up and go to the loo before coming downstairs to get myself a cup of tea

Blood thinners and diarrhoea
Hi, I've been on blood thinners since about 2012. I have had slowly increasing problems with morning diarrhoea since then. I was on apixaban but was changed to edoxaban for safety reasons on the advice of the GP's pharmacist. No change noted. I've been trying to track down the cause of my diarrhoea,

Post-Covid lung issues - what to expect?
Hi all, I had Covid in mid November and have been sick ever since, particularly (and perhaps only) breathlessness and fatigue. I was first diagnosed with asthma, but the meds only seemed to stave off a worse episode of breathlessness. So I went back to the docs and insisted on being seen, as I was

15 year AF story
First episode of AF about 15 years ago. Heart rate ~155. Would sometimes reset itself. Initially fixed with Flecanide, then Amiodorone. Flecanide then inadequate and I suffered a very unpleasant fainting/blackout reaction to amiodorone when an IV drip was started in A&E. So further episodes sorted by

Not sure what's wrong.
Hi, I wasn't sure as to which community to post in but here goes. I am a 52 year old male. About 6 months ago I became unwell due to a virus of some sort. It’s likely I had COVID but I never tested positive for it. Ever since I’ve just not been right and most days I have a lack of energy and usually

An Eventful January
I like to keep the NHS busy. My January itinerary as its stands, although more can be added yet. Week 1 - Respiratory Chest Consultant, following a CT Scan on 29/12 I had an appt with the Consultant a few days later. As I expected the scan showed that I had a Pleural Effusion/Pneumonia (fluid) in both

Post ablation follow-up
Just got back from my ablation follow-up with the arrhythmia nurse. Had an ECG first and all was well. She is happy about everything and I have had no further hiccups since the beginning of December. I am to stay on the Diltiazem (my choice) as it is working well with the BP and not giving me any problems

Ferritin
I have just had an Advanced Thyroid Test from Medichecks. My Free T4 and Free T3 may look good but I have been getting a return of my symptoms so have upped my NDT from 2.5 grains to 3. It is my ferritin which I am not happy about. Is it too low? I eat very little red meat which is probably why it is

Ramdom flips from bradycardia to tachycardia.
First Post. Hi everyone I'm a 64 year old male livng in Yorkshire, England. I first became aware of issues with my heart over 40 years ago, my wife noticed my heart would miss a beat every now and again. At some point a doctor told me I had an ectopic beat and that it wasn't anything to worry about,

Sleeping with ectopics
I have been getting ectopic beats for the last three weeks. At times it can be as many as 1 every 30 normal beats, at other times I don’t get one for hours. No idea what the triggers are. Already on BP meds, including Bisoprolol. Went to see GP last week, she sent me off to ED where an ECG, blood tests

Possible Problems With Bladder Cancer Treatment
My treatment now seems to be - Flexy Cystoscopy first - If anything is found then booked for admission to have tumour(s) removed. This is done with a procedure called TURBT and rigid cystoscopy. As a BTY - I am unsure if my BCG treatment has ended, or have I one more go. I am not allowed "general

Aortic Stenosis and Angina
hi I had an echocardiogram in August and got the result in September . The local hospital has been tasked with doing further tests and paperwork before handing me over to Leeds which is apparently the best hospital around for cardiac care . I have now had 48 hour ECG plus a CT angiogram which included

Update! 😢😢
Well I am now on what they are calling maximum optimisation of my Heart Failure medication. Initially I did feel I was improving but over the past few weeks I feel that my health is now worse than when I was first diagnosed. Was out in the car yesterday had to pull over as I felt like I was about to
