I’m so sorry to hear this Gaz. I can imagine it was a very scary experience for you and your colleagues. Have they got you on medication for the ectopics/possible abnormal arrhythmias?

I hope you are taking some time off work.

Thinking of you.

It wouldn’t just be ectopic beats. If your pause between beats is great than 4 to 5 seconds, that may be an issue. Ectopic beats alone with a pause less than 3 seconds is really no issue. You really need a cardiologist to determine what tests you require.

So do you have a known condition? you mentioned you were due a visit to cardiology anyway, as someone who suffers with ectopics your post does alarm me somewhat as it suggests the cause is ectopics.

I had mild heart attack in 2017 and two Stents in then one in right artery and one in left artery, I have CAD , Was ok for first two years of having stents in then got chest pains again had a CT angiogram in 2022 and said my arteries were clear of calcium, In August 2023 I had a echocardiogram which found I had LVH left side heart walls thickness, Due to high blood pressure,Went to see doctor in September last year about chest pains and told me my heart can't keep up with with my needs eg work cycling and walking and was sending my arteries into spasms, Had a blood pressure monitor on last year showed high blood pressure highest 180/111 but had a reading as low as 90/40 once so averaged it out, I am on blood pressure meds, Have been waiting and 72 hour ecg monitor and cardiology appointment since September 2023

something very similar happened to me a year ago. I was unresponsive, apparently twitching and sweating. Taken to A&E, by which time I had come round. I had already been diagnosed with Afib and microvascular disorder, plus my heart pauses from time to time. I had a similar episode at the end of December and have been listed for an ablation. It’s frightening to experience and left me feeling very washed out and tired but no lasting effects. The big down side is that I can’t drive in case it happens whilst I’m at the wheel. Ask for a Holter monitor so that they can see what going on over time. Hope you get some answers.

Thank you for your reply very helpful to me. Been waiting for a 72 HR ECG monitor test since September 2023 , Thanks again for your reply

The wait for ECG Holter Monitors on the NHS is a nothing short of a scandal.

FWiW, after weeks of waiting for a 24 hour monitor we paid for a 14 day holter monitor test for my wife. The device was couriered to and from our home. Fitting was nothing more than attaching a small device to a sticky patch on the chest. The results were with the consultant in 5 days. She then went on to have a Loop Recorder and now has a 2 lead pacemaker. There really is no need to pay clinical staff to fit holter monitors when the technology is available for home fitting.

hi Gaz. Sorry to hear that. I’m wondering what you were doing BEFORE you passed out. Standing? Exerting? Or nothing at all? I ask because I’ve had similar experiences, one before my heart attack and others while standing for a while in choirs. I’m told it’s vasovegal syncope. It’s good that you’re getting a Holter monitor.

Hi Gaz, I've been in a situation similar to yours.

If you have the budget to see a private cardiologist (maybe £200) within a few days rather than wait an unknown time on the NHS, I very much recommend it. Doing so will quickly put your mind at ease, or is likely yo put you on the path to corrective treatment MUCH sooner.

In my case it was money well spent, as the cardiologist found a serious problem that needed immediate treatment. I too have ectopics but (again, in MY case) they were not the problem.

Will have a look into this thanks

Personally an all round health screen may be better as it’ll look at more than just the heart. I’ve been with same Consultant cardiologist for at least 25yr and only I had to insist that an ablation may be required 🙄

all the organs work in conjunction with each other, if one is out of sync they all can be. I’ve found I have genetic Haemochromatisis, T2 diabetes and have to watch my thyroid 😳

No one considers the whole body 🤯 or even looks for causes, they’re all tunnel visioned

Hi GazFrightening experience to faint at work! Being on my feet or standing for 8 hours is exhausting!

I do hope that the doctors check your health thoroughly to find the cause Gaz if it's your heart 🙏👍

In 2007 I experienced severe palpitations once and fainted! It was summer and very hot outside! But I was alright afterwards!

I wished now I had this checked out by my GP then!

I wish you well Gaz 👍🥰

Thank you for your reply, It was a frightening experience experience for sure when I was about to collapse I said not again because like you a few years ago was making my breakfast and passed out at home then as you it had been very hot days and when I got to hospital they just said I was dehydration this was after I had been standing up all week at work, When I passed out then was not making noises when breathing and arms and legs shaking and I a red colour in face etc as it says on ambulance report I was reading on my phone medical app, It's best as you say to get things checked out, All the best to you will keep you updated,Thanks

Morning GazNot drinking enough fluids when it's hot outside I often felt uneasy! The restaurant kitchen was sweltering with all the cooking, steam, grills, ovens etc on, washing up in hot water! We hearties need to stay hydrated and when working in certain environments it can proof difficult! But your arms and legs muscle spasms that is strange and definitely needs checking out! 👍🥰

So you getting too hot at work Gaz 😏I was allowed when warm to wear just a dark blue tee shirt! It helped! But in your line of work health & safety is paramount! So sorry you experiencing this problem Gaz! I retired last year but now wished I hadn't! All for a reason Gaz 👍🙏🥰
