If you have any chest pain, feel dizzy, out of breath, phone 111 or 999.
I've been feeling odd this weekend, probably over excertion.
Had chest pains Saturday, Sunday, today, felt dizzy, nausea, short of breath, it reminded me of my HA but I thought no way, I've overdone physical activities, it's not that.
But I phoned 111 , Thats what they are there for and they immediately sent an ambulance and took me to hospital where they did blood tests and ECG.
Came back fine, ie no new HA I then started to apologise to the doctors, nurse and the ambulance people for wasting their time.
They made it 100% crystal clear to me
"We'd rather you walk into an ambulance and walk out the hospital then not phoning us and never doing anything again ever."
I go the message loud and clear.
Hope that helps people who are in doubt of getting help.
Thanks BeKind28- it was a good lesson to be honest ie
a)expect a few bumps on your road to recovery
b)if in doubt pick up the phone, don't hesitate
c)the NHS are there to help, they want to help
d)use the GTN spray for any symptoms, doesn't matter if you think it's a muscle sprain, use the GTN spray when the symptoms are present. It wasn't as bad as I've heard and glad i got it done as now I will use it when required.
Good morning baly, Two weeks ago I had similar chest pains for three days, so I had a phone triage with our GP. Her advice was to get to the hospital to have it checked. This probably was due me having Angina. We went to the hospital got there at 4.15pm and left at 4.30 am the following morning. That was a 12 1/4 hour trip. Perhaps if I had rung 111 or 999 it wouldn't have been as bad, but I just didn't think it warranted a trip in an ambulance, they were needed for really ill people. It was no-ones fault for the long time in A&E, the place was rammed with patients, some who were sat with drips in their arm, and a nurse constantly pushing a trolley taking blood pressure etc. I probably would have been treated quicker if I had used 111. I hope that everything turns out ok and that he can soon be home for some loving care.
