Relapse plus UTI
I took my 'last' quarter mg of prednisone in April this year, after four years of PMR. In the months since then have been plagued with constant colds etc (now over all that, finally got antibiotics to knock it all on the head), but that seems to have been very common in this country ( NZ) after Covid

Prednisone to Hydrocortisone
My last visit to my rheumatologist she recommended I see an endocrinologist because my most recent Dexa scan (2022) hadn’t improved from my last one (2020). My Dexa scans say osteopenia but my rheumatologist looks at the reports and there’s some other formula that brings me into osteoporosis. So she

I am on 40 mg of prednisone for GCA. Does Prednisone cause gum sensitivty and brittle nails? My gums now bleed easily. They never did before CGA. Always had strong nails. Not anymore? Any comments much appreciated\ Groda

What to do for the stiffness.
Coming up on 4 years since I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA. I have tapered to 2 mg of Prednisone daily. Labs are all good. The stiffness is not going away. Mornings are pretty bad, as well as during the night. If I sit still for more than 30 minutes I am so stiff I can not walk normally. Most of the

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) For PD And Much Much More
While many of us are aware of the potential that FMT has shown for PD, Clostridium difficile (C. diff) and IBS that has not responded to standard therapy, I wrote this to highlight the fact that FMT has shown the potential to also help a multitude of other diseases and health issues that are often seen

Whole pelvic radiation after testicular cancer?
My husband is 63, dx Oct/2022 with PSA of ~11 and all twelve cores positive with GL 8 and mostly 9’s (4+5). He had SVI, PNI, and probable ECE, but PSMA PET showed no spread. He’s being treated at UCHealth/Denver CO at their urologic cancer center. His treatment consisted of 39 radiation sessions +

Stopping abiraterone
OK, specific question time here. I've been on Abiraterone+Prednisone for about a year and a half, with a 2 month break around Christmas last year. My Doc says the normal course of Abiraterone is about 18 months, and I think that we're kind of dancing around discontinuing the drug, for me. I know that

new myocarditis MRI results; what now?
Dear Forumites, Yesterday I received results from my followup cMRI for myocarditis. The good news, it is better since the first cMRI in April. There is still swelling and enlargement of the heart walls, but not as much, and the EFs (ejection fractions) are both still down, but not as far down (55%

Trouble Tapering
I was diagnosed with PMR 2 years ago. My doctor started me on 40 mg prednisone. I think the higher dose was because I was in severe pain. It didn't take too long before I tapered to 20 mg. I then got down to 15 mg but had to go back up to 20 mg where I was stuck for a while. By this past February I had

Rapid Taper
My Rheumatologist wanted me to taper in 6 days from 20mg to 0 prednisone in order to reassess me for PMR. Even though I did have elevated CRP and ESR he is not quite sure since some of my symptoms weren’t gone. Will all my so called PMR symptoms return by the time I’m at O and will my markers be back

Flare or not
Five years on and been doing okay. Struggling to get below 1mg prednisone though. I've been splitting the 1mg and taking it slowly but maybe not slowly enough. I now live in new town with new doctor (two years here) . I'm growing conscious of morning aches and stiffness in both shoulders and hips

Down to 1.5mg prednisone now for about 5 days
I do notice a few more stiffness issues in the morning. But no typical PMR pains. Left middle finger maybe slightly improved. I actually can sleep better now as the fingers dont hurt so much. The pain develops mostly when sleeping, I can not sleep in any position except for on my stomach or my hands

delaying Prednisolone by a few hours
hello, back again for some advice. I was diagnosed with PMR/GCA three and a half years ago and after a relapse I am now on 4mg. Next week I will have an abdominal and urinary tract ultrasound at 11am. I was instructed not to eat or drink for 6 hours before and to drink one litre of water one hour before

Profile Update
I was going to update my profile but after adding additional ailments several times and then having them disappear, I have decided to inform via this post. I was diagnosed with PMR early 2016 with 15 mgs prednisone. Since that year I've had right leg replacement and bleeding ulcer at the same time
