Update on Tooth Extraction
Well!...... the remains of the tooth have gone and the whole experience has had some positives and some negatives!Let's start with negatives first:- - appointment start time...11.00am but actual start time.....12.05pm! Appointments were running way behind time. Not helpful when you're already feeling

Prednisone vs Acterma with steroid induced diabetes. Really terrified
Update: April 2024 was scheduled for eye surgery for Strabismus which was canceled days before when in the same week I was determined by my Endocrinologist to have steroid induced diabetes which makes the general anesthesia too risky at this point. Rescheduled for August tentatively while we work on

The correct way to ween down on hydrocortisone? Advice please.
My last post was when I was just starting on 20mg of hydrocortisone changing from prednisolone and needed advice. Further down the line more advice needed please. On Monday I tested Covid ‘Positive’ I had avoided it since the first day that dreaded name was on everyone’s lips so it was a shock to find

Should it take this long to taper with PMR/GCA?
I am so sorry to be needing advice again, but I am wondering if anyone else has struggled to wean from higher doses of Prednisone for PMR and GCA. Since late January I have been on dosages of 65mg. and weaned down to 45mg. by early April. Since then I can't seem to get below 45mg. as I have a return

Not a UTI
Thinking I had picked up a UTI (strange feeling in bladder area and frequent feeling of needing to urinate) I requested a urine test, which was done. The triage nurse at my surgery informed me that although it showed no infection there were in fact microscopic traces of blood in there, (which would be

Cortisol levels
I was diagnosed with PMR 16 months ago. I was put on 20mg of Prednisone and not told to taper for several weeks. Since then I've been cautiously tapering by the DL method. I exercise a lot, eat well, etc. Unfortunately some months into the Prednisone I was diagnosed with steroid induced diabetes.

Right Temple Pain but Tolerable
I’m currently taking 35 mg of prednisone and dropping to 30 mg on May 11. My first rheumatologist appointment is May 16. GCA was not confirmed by biopsy but I’m not convinced it’s not GCA or some other type of vasculitis. My head pain along the right temporal was intolerable, which led me to the ER

Heebeejeebies on low pred??
I have been down to 1mg of prednisone since January and toggling back and forth between 1 and 1/2 mg since April. But I feel mentally out of whack. Paranoid. Insecure. Incompetent. Stupid compared to others. Depressed. Anxious. This curtain came down on me when I was with people I have always liked and

First Rheumatology Appointment
I had my first rheumatology appointment today and I think it well unless any of you think otherwise as I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was diagnosed with PMR by GP at the end of June 2023 and successfully tapered from 15mg of Prednisolone to 10mg by the end of August however after three failed attempts

PREDNISOLONE and Methotrexate
hi, I’ve been on Pred for 15 months, gradually withdrawing. I got down to 3 mg and no further - a huge flair up. My rheumatologist has now suggested I take Methotrexate 20mg once a week, as well as increase Prednisolone to 10mg. Is anyone else on both these meds at the same time ? Has the Methotrexate

Prednisone taper plan.
OK, I had my first and pretty bad 41 hour AFib last Friday, Im stopping Abiraterone for at least 8 weeks, the Onco will reassess then. Im now taking Metoprolol which Abiraterone increases the effects of it. Still taking Prednisone, will start wean tomorrow. What's your favorite taper/wean plan.

GCA Neck pain
I was diagnosed with GCA in October 2022. Started on 60mg of Prednisolone & titrated down now 3mg. Have a great GP with whom I have a telephone appointment every 2weeks. Many, many side effects from the steroids, too many to list but now my main ones are severe pain in neck & exhaustion. I feel quite

After 2 days Prednisone feeling good already.
I have taken the Pret. for 10 days than 15mg for a week and now 10mg for a week and than 5 mg for a week. Reading some literature from the Royal College of Physicians and it indicates a much slower tapering. I have no or little symptoms after all this time and wonder if it is good to keep the 5 mg for

COPD exacerbations.
I was diagnosed with COPD in 2004 and until recently it was well controlled and I remained in the “moderate” category. However, following a holiday in Mexico, I came home and within days was laid low with a COPD exacerbation, lots of thick, brown mucus, lightheaded, feeling awful. It took a week to get

What comes after, what comes next?
I have posted a few times about my dad. Stage 4, mets to 8+ bones at time of diagnosis, PSA at 137 (10/22.) Lupron twice a year, Bicalutamide, failed at 7 months, Xtandi failed at 4 months, currently on Zytiga. We met with my dad’s oncologist on 4/24. My Dad’s PSA dropped from 2.47-1.46 and pain has

Anemia on Abiraterone + Prednisone + Lupron
Since November 2023 I have been taking Abiraterone + Prednosone for castrate resistant metastatic prostate cancer. In November my PSA was 0.8. In the first three months it went down to 0.26. Yesterday, my PSA was 0.16. But my hemoglobin and hematocrit became low at 11.6 and 36% respectively.

Can you help regarding symptoms?
Full disclosure here. My ability to determine my health status is lacking. I either over-react or under-react. I never believed I had PMR but I also didn't believe I had a ruptured appendix. I am a hard worker, managing a small farm so I do feel sore at times. I am presently on 10 mgs prednisone. I
