GCA tapering query
After being diagnosed with GCA early July, GO upped Prednisolone to 40mg (from 5mg for PMR) I am wondering what tapering regime for GCA is. I am still experiencing jaw claudication and vision changes (seeing local eye specialist tomorrow for check up). I am experiencing mood changes (which I suspect

After 7 very interesting years, I finally arrived at 3.5mg Pred which the rheumatologist has been “happy” for me to keep as a maintenance dose. However, several months ago I developed a rash on my arms, legs and back. There followed two biopsies and eventually, some three weeks ago, the diagnosis of

Reducing Prednisolone
Am just down to 8mg of Prednisolone. Does the odd “ping “ in my temple mean I am having a flare…no headache or other symptoms. Wondering if a bit of dehydration in hot weather

Flare protocol and how to manage it.
Flare protocol and how to manage it.I was doing so well on 5mg prednisolone when in the 6th week, a horrid flare hit me affecting my mobility like never before. I added 3mg to make it 8 in total, but that wasn't enough, so upped it by the recommended 5 mg, making the total 10 mg. I stayed with 10mg for

Wheezing
I wake with worrying wheezing, usually it seems to come from the left hand lower lung. I think it's associated with nasal drip and sleeping on my left. Sometimes coughing will produce a small amount of phlegm which relieves the situation to some extent. In cold weather or if I catch cold, my symptoms

Feeling tired and low
Having been diagnosed with PMR a few years ago and starting on 15mg I was pleased the report to my rheumatologist that I had reduced to 2mg a day and she wrote to my Dr saying how pleased she was and that she was surprised I had achieved this as she had doubted I could ever get off Prednisolone. I

To be or not to be Immuno-suppressed? That is the Question!
Since the covid vaccination program began, I've very deliberately had every single booster offered....7 in total. I've always felt that protecting myself from catching covid is both sensible and responsible. However, I've not been able to have this years spring booster yet as I cannot have the Moderna

Prednisolone cured the initial pain in my legs and thighs but deep ache in my thighs & calves persists after 8 months. What can I expect ?
I am a reasonably healthy 72 year old, a retired Physicist/Engineer and before the PMR used to cycle and swim daily. I live with my wife in a house built in 1880 and we are improving it year by year. PMR probably started May 2023 with ache / pain in top of left inner thigh and sometimes right thigh

ONE - Prednisolone
I was diagnosed with the above around 9 months ago. I believe this was caused by Vivid as I was perfectly healthy before. I have been tapering down a couple of times then it seems to get worse and I'm back on it. However intelligent to back on although my doc said my blood test was a bit high and I

How to respond to inflamed thumb joint?
Hi all, I've been reading on here since I developed PMR in April this year and found the experience of others really helpful. My GP and I made the diagnosis (I'm a retired GP) and I have a first rheumatology appointment in September. I've managed to reduce from prednisolone 15mg to 11mg which I've been

I believe we have a few members who have posted about this in the past. I'm a PMR long termer diagnosed in Nov 2017 and currently taking 2.5mg Prednisolone. In June 2023 I had a revision of refractive surgery to both eyes at a world leading specialist centre in London. The procedure is known to affect

Rif help
Hi all, I have recently discovered I have RIF as a result of uNK cells. I've had 15 miscarriages at implantation now. I am looking for a Dr who will prescribe prednisolone as my NHS Dr says its off license for this and she doesn't know the dosage. Any Dr's or clinics that will prescribe this would be

Prednisolone and weight
My husband has been taking steroids for his encephalitis brought on by Hashimoto's Encephalopathy since March 2024. The dose is tapering down, but his weight loss doesn't seem to be tapering. He was a skinny thing all his life until now, so putting on 10kg in 4 months has been quite a shock to him.Is
