Am just down to 8mg of Prednisolone. Does the odd “ping “ in my temple mean I am having a flare…no headache or other symptoms. Wondering if a bit of dehydration in hot weather

Do you mean a “ping” of pain? How often? What type of pain? like your old GCA symptoms? To have got to 8mg in about 5 months is pretty quick so I’d be a bit more cautious now.

It might be the beginnings of a flare - not sure there’s enough evidence to say definitely one way or the other. But would say you have reduced quickly to be down from 40mg to 8mg within 6 months.

Bit more info would be helpful - any other symptoms for example?

Definitely no more reducing for now… until yiu are sure what it is.
