Endemic goitre and hypothyroidism in an adult female patient dependent on total parenteral nutrition
The patient also suffers from a Desmin
myopathy
, and at present, the exact aetiology behind her intestinal failure is not certain. The goitre was smooth and had been enlarging slowly over the previous few months. Thyroid peroxidase antibodies were found to be within normal range.

Finally made the move back to New Jersey.
My first visit was interesting He was very concerned with the steroid
myopathy
and my tremendous weakness and started a reduction plan. The plan is aggressive but he assured me that losing my eyesight was not going to happen because of GCA.

once the thyroid gland has been removed or partially removed, after many years? Had partial thyroidectomy in 1980 (had a 4 nodule goitre and was told post operation i had papillary carcinoadenoma).

Mitochondrial Myopathy
As well as having chronic FM I have an illness called Mitochondrial
Myopathy
which I was born with and affects the supply of blood to my muscles and bones and for which there is no cure. I've asked lots of doctors if it makes the FM worse.

Sight loss. GCA/ TIA ?
I really believe that it is also another result of the steroid
myopathy
and that as I get off the Prednisolone the increased brain flaid and pressure will also go down.

Thyrotoxic Myopathy
The toxic levels of thyroxine have caused muscle wasting (
myopathy
) and pain in my leg and arm muscles, and across my upper back. Does anyone on here have any knowledge or experience of this, and more importantly, any advice? Thanks.

However, I do have Raynaud's, suffered a stroke at 41 that the doctor now feels was due to vasculitis (though currently not suffering from), autonomic neuropathy,

Cyclist's experience 11 weeks post cryoablation, and cycling at altitude.
I also have an enlarged heart (cardio-
myopathy
) and dodgy electrics (left bundle branch block) but this does not seem to be affecting me too much at present. The absence of pesky AF (apart from the one incidence) since the ablation is a major improvement.

IVF and donor egg - right for me?
The problem is that I’m a bearer of broken gene and have inherited muscular
myopathy
. It’s not life threatening and doesn’t influence the length of life at all. However, it influences its quality. They say that the variety of inheriting it by my children is 50%.

Unable to do less & less, any suggestions ?
Is this a side effect of the steroid
myopathy
? Both my legs, feet, ankles, wrists and hands are so swollen/fat. My face is unrecognizable and I have a huge buffalo humped back. Not such a good look! I would be very grateful for any help or suggestions.

catch up after private rheumatologist appointment
Dasgupta who quickly diagnosed that along with the pmr & gca I had now developed steroid
myopathy
. Great ! At least I now know that the extra weight wasn't all my fault. Anyway, I need to reduce the prednisolone because my muscle is being replaced by fat, and fat wont hold me up!
