New to site. Question about myopathy
My question is can you have
myopathy
in FND? I am struggling with this diagnosis as I believe it may be all linked to my untreated Hypothyroidism. Would the
Myopathy
result point to an organic problem or would this be consistent with FND?

Neurologist has just diagnosed me with Functional Neurological Disorder, is this what they say when they mean all in your head????
I don't know how it can be all in my head when I have had two muscle tests showing
myopathy
. The doctor who did the tests even put that it was probably due to my thyroid. I think I hate doctors even more every time I see one. I had to hold back the tears as I was catching a taxi home.

I have already submitted all the evidence I have, doctors letters, consultant letters, two separate muscle test results showing
myopathy
, diaries of symptoms especially of hemiplegic migraine attacks.

Statin Myopathy
This the article I was searching for. It is extremely detailed and very comprehensive. The main points are; Statin Myopathies are much more common in the "real world" than in clinical trials , as people in trials are more carefully selected. Myalgia can occur without a raise in CK levels. Some patients

Peripheral neuropathy - neuropathic pain - anyone any experience of this?
During my recent prolonged ICU stay (in Feb - March) I developed Critical Care
Myopathy
and Neuropathy - basically muscle wasting and nerve damage due to a combination of the drugs they had to give me, the sepsis, kidney failure etc etc and the fact that I was lying around not moving for seven weeks

Hello old friends... Em is back! (WARNING: references to ventilation and severe illness)
I was almost completely paralysed as a result of Critical Care
myopathy
(muscle wasting) and neuropathy (nerve damage), complications of my illnesses and organ failure. For a few days I was unable to talk as I had a tracheostomy, which was extremely frustrating.

I am aware there are new (although expensive) treatments for thosewho cannot take statins as I went to a talk by Prof Gerald Watts
What exactly defines statin
myopathy
and how many statins does one have to adversely react to in order to be classed as intolerant to statins in general?
