I have only come across myopathy in relation to steroid-induced myopathy where long-term steroids can cause pain and shrinkage of certain muscles. My rheumy considered my persistent pain in an arm muscle after some years on steroids and whilst on the very low doses was attributable to the steroids as opposed to the ongoing inflammation of PMR. This does resolve when off steroids.

I hope this helps but I guess there are other forms of, and reasons for, myopathy.
