Movicol

He has been on movicol for a few years now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, he still has accidents everyday and I’m worried about him as he gets bullied on a regular basis at primary school from his peers because of it.

Doctors told me it was just constipation and gave me meds like Movicol-no help at all. They didnt aeem to believe my pain and I even got sent to a psychiatrist as they said it was all in my head!! I kept chasing up my pain...doctors then sai its ibs.

My 6 yr old girl recently been through hospital stay for chronic constipation now back to normal daily bowel movement with movicol morning & night but we now have frequent toilet visits when out of the house?

We are now doing a maintenance dose of Movicol but I have not yet been able to get the right balance so that he just does 1-2 bowel movements a day. He just seems to poo all day, no matter what dosage I give him. I know it is not the same type of impaction soiling though.

We have been given the disimpaction regime by his gastro consultant but I’m a bit concerned as tomorrow we have a long car journey to Scotland which may prove difficult as it will be when he is on the 12 sachets of movicol.

We're on day 2 and giving him 6 movicol am and pm as advised by the hospital. He's going to the toilet a lot today but just passing pellets. How will I know when disimpaction is complete and can start the maintenance dose?

Now using suppositories daily as soiling continued with movicol and picosulphate for constipation and fingers crossed that it works as think it's last resort

Not sure if it’s just more bugs from school or whether it’s down to the Movicol (not that it’s made any difference). 😔

My daughter was managing a soft poo everyday with one movicol a day. However the last few weeks we’ve been having wetting accidents and some occasional soiling. I’m going to do a disimpaction over the weekend but was wondering if anyone had experience of needing more laxative.

Son has been prescribed movicol but he refuses to take it due to taste. The alarm we were given just falls off. We have an appointment in a month but son "can't remember" if he has done a poo during the day - it is so frustrating as we are constantly changing bed sheets.

6 year old daughter been on 1 sachet of movicol for past few years put in her milk daily, stopped taking few months ago resulting in 2 uti & impactated poo. Was in hospital for 4 days trying to pass with movicol reintroduced. Managed 5 sachets on 4th day then passed what was left after enema.

really got it poor sod .anyway can some else no wars going on bowels I getting back loud stomach bloated so I'll during after even a wee I thought I'd gone and the pain like me whole body mussels twitching feel body's been beaten then as soon as I try get off bed moving around is unbearable I'm on movicol

Anyway, I believe the plan is to do a disimpaction, then stay on movicol for 6 months, and see if there is any improvement. Currently her bladder capacity appears to be around 40-50mls so there is clearly quite a bit of work to do....

does disimpaction with movicol really work?

We did see a doctor when he was 6 and he was on movicol for a year. It didn't seem to make a difference, and frankly he improved when taken off the movicol. I've lost the hope that any professional can help us. I just don't know if he does have a physical problem or if he just doesn't care.

Severe constipation I used to take 1 and a half movicol satchets a night with ok results, now I am having to take 2 and a half with fybogel plus linseed on breakfast cereal to barely pass a B/O. Stomach very bloated and guts highly sensitive to just about anything, even drinks.

It has gotten to put she has gone around 12days with no stool at all, and i have to give her at least 5days worth of 2 sachets a day of movicol before she cannot hold it any longer! Im at a lost of what to do?

Hi everyone My daughter is 5 and has suffered chronic constipation for as long as I can remember, she has been on movicol for a few weeks now which seems to help. However she still spoils herself.

He's on 8 sachets of movicol 30mls of picosulphate and 30 mps off lactolose DAILY through a nasal gastric tube. They have offered him BOTOX but I'm undecided as what to do, as I no a million percent he is not withholding!! One hospital agreed his not but Manchester children's disagree
