My son aged 11 has recently been diagnosed with a massive bowel blockage and we've had to start a disimpaction routine. We're on day 2 and giving him 6 movicol am and pm as advised by the hospital. He's going to the toilet a lot today but just passing pellets. How will I know when disimpaction is complete and can start the maintenance dose?

Disimpaction
Hello. It occurred to me that there are many posts on disimpaction on this forum and it might be helpful for you to use the search facility to see the answers that have been given before. Best of luck to you and your son.
Hi, I’m on day 2 of 6 sachets today, my son is 10 in May! And we have struggled since he has been toilet trained, it seems to be getting worse as he’s getting older.
We have an app with the continence nurse 20th April and she wanted us to do the impaction before we see her. I’m writing a dairy of every movement that he does incl food and snacks x
Good luck x
You're looking for brown water. The pellets mean things are on the move so hang on in there, but it's really important to keep going to the brown water. There's a great leaflet on the ERIC website on what do and expect: eric.org.uk/pdf-a-parents-g... and lots of other good posts and advice on here. Good luck!
8 sachets given today and still hard pellets. He isn't feeling well today and is really pale. Tummy making lots of noises and he says it hurts bad
Oh bless him, poor him and poor you. Hang on in there. You’re on day three and I think the pain can be things starting to move. Can you give calpol to help? Fingers crossed you get a positive change tomorrow x
