PMR with type 2 diabetes
I have type two diabetes with PMR and struggling to keep my blood sugar level as low as my GP would like. Anybody out there in the same position?

Prediabetes disgnosis
My AIC is at 6 which is borderline to diabetes. I am taking steps to modify my diet and lose the weight I gained during COVID and while on PRED. I tapered off PRED THIS June. I have a family history of diabetes so I am aware that while my siblings were diagnosed in their 50's I have postponed the problem

weight gain and elevated blood glucose level on venetoclax treatment
I am a half way through on V treatment and my blood numbers and spleen size. are already in a normal range. But my blood glucose level became elevated from below 100 to 150. I also have high blood pressure , resulting in a stroke . I appreciate you sharing information or expirience on those symptoms

Tapering well so far.
Down to 8 mgs methylpred. No probs so far. Going down to 6 tomorrow. I realize that this is more of a drop than recommended. I can raise and use both arms and hips haven’t frozen. Can sleep. Also, good news on queasiness from diabetes meds. Changed to Mounjaro from Ozempic. Queasiness less

Sitagliptin
Has anyone ever been prescribed sitagliptin for recurrent implantation failure? I had a biopsy in Coventry (Dr Brosens) as we’ve had 3 failed transfers with top embryos and it has shown results which are more in keeping with recurrent miscarriages (which I’ve never had, never had a positive test) rather

I have been diagnosed with NAFLD whilst having a scan. My GP says it’s connected to my type 2 diabetes. He as revered me to a diabetic specialist at my local hospital. This was 4 weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything. Do I need to push this or wait, I’m not sure what fatty liver is. Thank You

A new randomised study comparing diets
A new randomised study compares a low carbohydrate diet to the DASH diet. The conclusion: the low carb diet wins hands down. https://www.annfammed.org/content/21/3/256

Triglycerides
I’m very pleased to say my total cholesterol has gone from 6.4 to 4.6 from March this year to August. I worked hard with diet mainly and exercise. However my triglycerides weren’t included in this blood test. Has anyone found that due to their thyroid problems that their triglycerides are raised?

Fasting blood test query
I’ve been asked to book a fasting blood test next week. It’s at 10.00am. I take it this is a 12 hour fast. Do I take meds first thing as usual with water? Currently take enteric coated pred with a spoonful of yoghurt, then edoxaban and Bisoprolal after breakfast. Can’t get an answer from the receptionist

Neurological processing disorder from bacterial meningitis
morning, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with neurological processing disorders please? I went to the hospital recently for an auditory processing disorder but it’s now thought that this is wider neurological processing disorder that I need to be referred to a brain trauma specialist

Paleontology Diet – By Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield
Excerpt from the transcript of a talk given by the late Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield at one of TPA's Annual Conferences several years ago.
I'm posting this here because we've recently had a few questions/posts about extreme diets such as the carnivor diet. Personally, I think what Dr Peatfield

Sensitive post - the end of the journey!
Hi everyone, 6 weeks ago, after 7 rounds of egg collection and 2 transfers (this was my second transfer), my son was born at 37 weeks via c-section due to placenta previa, gestational diabetes, risk of pre-eclempsia and 'my age'. I finally became a mother at 46 (with my 42 year old egg) ! The baby

flare?
Hello all, I’m just entering my second year of PMR and I’m now down to 7.5 mgs of Prednisolone but the last week I have felt awful. Very tired, my body aches, no energy. I had a total knee replacement 3 months ago and I’m due to go back to part time work next weds. Should I increase my pred for a couple
