Mirena coil and bleeding

In 2019 I had a pain flare which lasted 6 months before I was started on amitriptyline and was given the Mirena coil to help my pain. I've had my Mirena coil for just over a year now. The last few months I've been having increased endo and cramping pain, and a new nipping type of internal pain.

Your experience on the Mirena or Jaydess coil?

Anyone had experiences on the IUD/IUS mirena or jaydess coil contraception? I want to get it but very worried about the insertion procedure and overall side effects. Was getting it fitted painful? Did you experience any side effects on the coil? Any info would be a great help thanks!

Anyone trying Mirena (levonorgestrel) & Cerazette (desogestrel) together?

I've had the Mirena put in by a gynaecologist, so maybe that will do the trick. However, I've read some women bleed with their periods while they have the Mirena, particularly in the first 12 weeks.

What treatments have you had for endometriosis?

My symptoms kept getting worse and it was decided by me and my GP to try the Mirena coil. I had it fitted 3 weeks ago and know I need to give it 6 months to fully take effect. The pain I am in is so bad that I faint and feel sick all of the time.

Zoladex and Mirena question? Need help.

So I had a Mirena fitted a week ago with the hope it will keep my periods away. My next zoladex would have been in two weeks time so I’m not at the end of that treatment period yet however I’ve started bleeding.

Is it possible to have endometriosis and still feel pain while on hormone treatments?

I have tried two types of the pill, the GnRH analogues (Zoladex injections) and I have had the mirena coil implanted for the last seven weeks. While on all three I have still felt horrible pain in my womb.

Endometriosis and getting pregnant

Hi there, I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2019 where I had surgery and got the mirena IUD fitted. I am now thinking about trying to get pregnant and wondered if anyone has been in this situation? Any recomendations? Thanks

Help Needed Before Appointment! (adenomyosis)

After a long diagnosis journey, being fobbed off and trying what felt like every pill/ injection under the sun, I agreed to have the mirena coil in october 2020. Like so many others on this site I have had a horrendous time pushing to be taken seriously.

Adenomyosis advice please

Heyy I really need some advice on adenomyosis, I really do believe I have all the symptoms, but have had the mirena coil in for years so the only symptom I don’t have if the really heavy periods and clotting as that’s stopped by the coil. Can anyone explain more symptoms for me.

Another gynae refferal no help!

I’ve had the mirena coil for 4years, bleeding during/after sex and pain during/after. Constant ache in lower right tummy. Was told cervix is fine smear clear and that around 20% of women there’s no reason for it! I pushed for another refferal and mentioned a lap, gp was happy to refer.

Implant for endo?

He recommended a mirena coil in our telephone conversation but did not go into this in detail or mention other options. I now find myself on a waiting list for this but have since read some scary things about it (hair loss, infections, anxiety) and worry about how long I will have to wait for this.

Hormone treatment

I've been told that they wanna switch me from the pill to the mirena coil as this will help symptoms, they don't want to do surgery as I don't have children yet and want to in the next couple of years, and they are worried if they do the surgery they may find more and may have to give me a hysterectomy

Mirena IUD

Interested to know if a Mirena IUD is safe to have if you have Nash. I have read conflicting reports. I have only just had it inserted but apparently the hormones can have an affect on the liver??

Bleeding after mirena removal

* I had my mirena removed on Friday after having it for 14 months. I have been passing blood clots approx every 30 mins since. Has anyone else experienced this? The nurse said to get in touch if I was bleeding heavily after the removal.

Bulky uterus - Adenomyosis?

I'm keen to keep my uterus, and I've had a Mirena coil put in - and then read after the fact that the Mirena is often recommended for women with adenomyosis. So, the first part of my question is this: does bulky uterus normally mean likely adenomyosis?

Endo fatigue - how to perk up?

I have a "remedy pack" with Mirena & cerazette to slow the endo, amitryptaline & ibuprofen & paracetamol for pain relief, and vitamins & supplements for overall wellness (peppermint, probiotics, ginger, turmeric & black pepper, vitamin with omegas & vitamin D and calcium). This approach is helping.

Pain remedy pack - does yours look like this?

Background: I have endo stage IV, 5 weeks after laparoscopy, awaiting MRI scan - Mirena & cerazette. I've had these 1 month, and have light spotting all month with light period cramps.

Next step?

I was initially on cerazette (this stopped my bleeds) but had to stop it in late 2017 as they believed it could be aggravating another condition and causing rapid weight gain so I had a mirena inserted. I had no problems with my initial mirena and it also stopped my bleeds.
